Couple of comments on your post..
#1 Isaac Golden's work is far from universally accepted. Also, looking at
it from a critical POV, it seems to fail the definition of homeopathy on
several counts.
#2a. Yes, Boericke and a bunch of others recommended Thuja for ill effects
of vaccine (if you want to get real literal, the word vaccine is taken from
cowpox, the original source of smallpox "vaccination.")
#2b. Since Boericke's time, others, with reckless disregard for the source
material or the original definition of vaccination have 1) used
Thuja to treat ill-effects of inoculations with other than cowpox vaccine
2) used the term "vaccine" as a generic definition of attempting
immunization with attenuated disease-matter (for at least 100yrs.)
#3 Seems "your lecturer" is advocating homeopathy ..take a case, prescribe
on symptoms (fancy that

Thuja is one remedy which has homeopathicity to common symptoms of
cowpox-vaccinosis; moreover it is a prime & potent antisycotic, and so might
be thought to treat the vaccinosis on the level of acquired acute miasm...
Thuja's serendipitous success with other inoculation after-effects may be
partially attributable to its affinity for nervous system. In vaccination
(current definition) of infants 6mos & under, ill effects may likely be due
to physiological nerve problem caused by vaccine - delayed, impaired, or de-
myelinization.. which can cause enchephalitis-like symptoms & autism. Bell
and Stram might be thought of here..
A.H. Grimmer ("Collected Works" -Encyclopedia Homeopathica)
"Thuj. and Maland. are the best antidotes against the bad effects of small
pox vaccination. Ars. antidotes the evils of yellow fever shots, Mag-p. is a
joy for the suffering that often follows the tetanus shots. Bapt.
effectively antidotes typhoid and typhus inoculations. Diph. and Merc-cy.
antidote the diptheria shots and are also top curative remedies for the cure
and prevention of the disease itself."

Causation of vaccine may help to point us in the right direction, but in the
end we are either practicing homeopathy (as your lecturer pointed out) -or
we are not. Take a case; prescribe on symptom picture.
re: your final thought... that would seem to be a tautology.
In order to prescribe a remedy with reasonable surety that it will not act
suppressively... (yes, you guessed it

symptom picture. Keynote-only prescribing or simplistic
"this-remedy-for-that-causation" without establishing homeopathicity by
taking a complete case and matching the remedy choice to the particulars of
the totality of symptoms to be cured... could act suppressively; driving the
malaise represented by the expressed-then-suppressed symptom.. deeper into
the overall economy of the organism.
