Re: TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack), Mini Stroke
When our health food store sell fresh organic turmeric we buy as much as we can and throw some in the ground. It grows quickly and thrives in the tropical climate of Florida however we are central FL where it does get cooler near freezing this am. even if it has not sprouted before burying it it does sprout once planted and watered.
We enjoy it in smoothie or curries, etc.
enjoy,
Sunny

Re: TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack), Mini Stroke
Dear Vicki,
I am so sorry that you are in pain. I take 4 parts of turmeric, 1 part each of cumin, coriander, cinnamon, and about 1/4 part of clove. But turmeric is probably sufficient to reduce your pain greatly. But, remember, it is greatly enhanced if you dissolve it in a healthy oil. It is sort of difficult to detect if you don't, and it is easy to detect if you do.

I will try anything to get rid of the pain. LOL... what are your spices? I will take them w/my daily coconut oil eating! Thanks. I'm not asking any further questions.
Just tell me the spices PLEASE.

Re: TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack), Mini Stroke
Thanks Roger... I used a lot of turmeric on yesterday's breakfast and had a pretty painless day until I over did it. Roger, do you think I can infuse the organic root that they sell in Vitamin Cottage organic/cold pressed olive oil? I don't have any and it's snowing now, so I'm not going out. Wonder if I can just infuse the powder in olive oil for a month or so and then strain it out. I'd like to ferment the root too and then put the result in my EXTREME-aged vinegar as a marinade and and as a component of my pistachio EAG salad dressing.
I guess the only way to know is to do all of them and then still cook with it in olive oil and marinade meat with it. I'll make sure I get enough as I'm playing around. Someone said they throw it in the ground and watch it grow. I have buffalo plant loom from VC. I'll try to grow it in the western sun on my balcony. You never know.
Thanks for sending the info. I'm on a roll, and I do feel less pain today. Thanks. Thanks.

OK, guys - I just mixed up a batch of chopped ginger, powdered turmeric, and cinnamon in coconut oil. It is DELICIOUS! And I could easily eat several ounces at once. I'll let you know if my chronic muscle pain improves overnight:)
Wow, a Paleo dessert substitute for sure!

Great Ginny!! I'm cooking sausage/beet leaves/onion/garlic/some tomato in coco oil. I'll do Ginny's DELICIOUS treat for desert. I'm in 100% stress right now. Left ankle/foot itching. Right ankle itching. I just drank my BEE buzz too. Let's see what happens.

Re: TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack), Mini Stroke
Ginny,
I sort of bend over backwards (and that is tough when your 69) to dissolve as much of the turmeric as possible. So I will shake it up like 200 times with maximum vigor. I'll let it sit. I put the turmeric in the jar when the jar is about 112 degrees. That sort of thing. Since both turmeric and coconut oil (and olive oil in mine) do not go bad at room temperature, I might let it sit out all night, with the lid on of course.
By this time, the liquid should be dark, and there may be turmeric grounds at the bottom of the jar. It is the COLOR in the liquid that is the prize. I drink the colored oil or put it in a smoothie. If there is only grounds and no oil left, I just put in more oil and do the same thing.
Sayer Ji said some place that it is the pigment that is the prize.
I have not yet gotten to the point where there are no grounds. I don't know yet if the grounds are going to completely disappear or if the same grounds used over and over will eventually stop coloring the liquid. I'll see and I will report. But the color in the liquid should be very dark. I don't use just turmeric (caused I'm so messed up I need lots of help), and I am sort of color blind anyway, so I just look for very dark, and you guys can tell me about the color.

Re: TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack), Mini Stroke
Vicki,
Irene seems to prefer the olive oil, so perhaps she can answer these questions. I like coconut oil mostly because it is closest to ghee that the Ayurvedic people talk about, and also it is easier to deal with. I might try both because coconut oil is sort of hard on the throat.
Marinating an actual turmeric tuber is not something that I have tried, but I am sure that it will work faster and more thoroughly if you blend the living daylights out of it first so as to increase the surface area.
Did you say that you are feeling less pain after dissolving your turmeric in oil? Or this is the first time that you have used turmeric?
The powder will be ready to consume as soon as the oil turns red (I am color blind; I assume that it is red.) This should be a matter of minutes, not weeks. I heat my coconut oil up to about 120 degrees F, put the powder in and then shake it like crazy. If I let it sit, then the undissolved powder just falls to the bottom of the jar and I use it for next time. This works like pharmaceutical industry busters (ya' know, like "gang busters"). This could easily put many companies out of business. I like to leave the jar with coconut oil and spices in the hot water for a while while I clean up the kitchen and feed the dogs, before and after shaking it
But if I used olive oil and coconut oil, then I might not need to heat it up after I first put the turmeric in. That is a good idea. And it might not give me a harsh throat after drinking it.

I just ate a couple of tablespoons of almond butter, garlic, ginger, organic
raspberry jam and wasabi. Not for health reasons but because it tasted really
good.
