TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack), Mini Stroke

Post by M. Irfan Qureshi »

Dear Irene
I am a 65 years visitor in Canada since last April and plan to return to Pakistan two days after. In May last year, watching my grandson’s circumcision, I felt restless tingling sensations in my lower abdomen which travelled upwards (without disturbing my chest, heart or arms) and entered brain with weakness in my legs. Feeling difficult to remain standing any more I managed to walk out of the room and sat on the chair in waiting area. Severe tingling sensations in the brain were somewhat painful which remained hardly for 3 to 5 minutes and gradually vanished, leaving me normal since then.
I did take coffee with sugar and milk an hour before this episode (if it may be the cause) I try to keep my blood sugar level within the desired range with diet control and walk without taking allopathic medicine. However, I use Silicea 30 and/or NS6x for my chronic indigestion, enlarged prostate gland, spondylitis and to control blood sugar. I am a practicing homeopath.
After three days I could manage to visit hospital to know about this unusual experience. Few tests were taken with following results:
Negative exercise stress test for inducible ischemia
CT Head: Mild increase in CSF spaces of both the cerebrum and cerebellum are present, consistent with mild atrophy.
MRI Brain (16/01/2014): Global involutionary age related brain parenchymal changes noted. Small vessels ischemic changes.
All blood tests normal
Finally the doctor diagnosed TIA (mini stroke), Prescribed Baby Aspirin (81mg) Daily Low Dose to avoid full bloom stroke. Aspirin causes acidity which I neutralise with Natrum Phos 6x.
I also take Vitamin D3 1000 IU 25mcg one tablet daily.
I read your comments with great interest. Kindly give me your advice on my above case.

Aspirin can be very dangerous to your health. There are many other side effects besides bleeding stomach.

There are 1000’s of emergency cases from toxicity of aspirin. Nonetheless, medical people keep advising aspiring daily
over long periods of time.

Dear Mohammad,

Unfortunately I can not comment on a specific case. I hope that you can find a good health professional to consult, preferably in person.
I had a stroke myself in 2010. I too was prescribed various drugs, but chose not to take any of them.
Instead I use capsules I make containing tumeric (4 parts), ginger (4 parts) and capsicum (2 parts).
I experimented with how much of each of six ingredients I couod tolerate first, then chose the three best tolerated oners in the ratios tolerated, to decide my size 00 capsule content. I am not sure I rememebre the other three options I triesd, maybe cloves, ginko biloba and garlic I think. All of them have "blood thinning" and other beneficial effects.

The point to me is that aspirin does a great deal of damage and also prevents the beneficial effects of good substances like fish oil, so I will not go near it.
I do use a lot of fish oil ad Vit E daily, plus Moducare ....and then the above capsules added in have kept me well since the stroke.
At the start I took 5 or 6 caps a day, but now take two a day.

I hope you find what is best for your case.
A high antioxidant diet is also always a good thing in my view.

Namaste,
Irene

Irene,

I have discovered (from Jon in New Zealand here on Minutus) that turmeric is best taken when dissolved in a healthy oil. The difference is astonishing. I keep a little jar of my therapy spices (mostly turmeric) in a special jar. Every now and then I melt some coconut oil (I found butter to be too much of a hassle because it is more difficult to melt and I have to keep it in the refrigerator.) and put the appropriate amount of my therapy spices in the jar with the coconut oil and shake 200 times very vigorously. I use this until I run out and then make more. Whenever I feel like taking my spices, whether in a smoothie or a soup or even straight, my "stash" is available all of the time.

The reduction in inflammation is amazing, and I accomplish two tasks at once (I don't like killing birds, so I don't use the idiom.): spices and coconut oil. The amount of spices that I use is greatly decreased; my turmeric costs have dropped to close to zero. (:->)

And, of course, I appreciate any constructive thoughts from ya'all.

Thank you very much for your attention to my case. It gives me courage to find a different course of action instead of relying on aspirin. I wish for you a healthy long life.

Tanya, thank you very much for your advice. I shall certainly give up Aspirin but would be pleased to have your idea for an alternative. Thank you again.

Yes, I said as much in a recent email too:-)
I am aware of that, but
Well it depends where the need is. Turmeric will help the gut in oil or not, but a good meal should always have some fat in it anyway to be used with the turmeric.
Mine is in capsles and in my olive oil mixes.
I do not love the taste of the amount of turneric I want to use. I take it three ways to spread it out, in capsules (with a meal that has fat) and in olive oil on whatever I am eating, and in curries. But not in my smoothies. I use ginger, coriander, lemon, lime and nuts there, but no turmeric. It's fun to individualize what spices go where to be enjoyed maximally.

Coconut oil - I like it as it comes, unadulterated and good quality :-)
I do also use it to make what I think of as gut bombs (for painful gut) with it. Thats melted coconut with slippery elm bark powder, plenty ground fresh ginger, some lemon juice and a dash of sweetened condensed milk, frozen into small cubes. Taken alternating with some beaten egg for the necessary protein to counter alkali with acid, it is tasty and instantly helpful with alkali reflux pain.
(Silly doctors had suggested pepsid etc, a quick and painful way to die)
In my house, the coconut oil is less accessible than the freezer cubes:-)
I can get turmeric in bulk here quite inexpensively. So I am not shy to use whatever I need. It is great stuff, but we should stop telling everyone - the price will go up:-)
It is woderful at staining clothes if one is sloppy with it:-)
I have learned not to make my capsules wearing anything that will not be enhanced by some random batik-look :-)

Namaste,
Irene

Two things count (at least):
***
Total antioxidants you eat/swallow - to reduce the inflammation that is painful;
On my low budget that is 1000 IU daily Vit E and 4 caps fish oil for best effect.
(They work together magically. Even sheep farmers are supplementing sheep for higher yield protein of better taste)
plus turmeric and ginger
***
....and specific pain killers that are also antioxidant, the best for me being
capsicum and ginger.
Different spices work for different people.
For example I benefit from coriander but get worse from cinnamon.
