Re: Veterinary Question (was Michael Douglas)
yes and we all saw what happened to animals in foot and mouth times in the UK in 2001 (I lived in Wales at that time). Terrible. Vets became like the nazi gestapo. I had friends terrorized.

Stand corrected, but I would say the same for the father as the son..
Never trusted anything out of either of them

Not sure,
I guess we're into semantics here. Any legal battle could go either way, I suspect it would still be a problem as the power resides with the trained person, the homeopath, though the outcome would depend on whether the animal was harmed due to technical neglect, ie. needing surgery and not being taken to a vet in time and either dying or suffering needlessly.
In that sort of situation the verdict may come down on the homeopath AND the owner!!
This kind of situation could potentially get a license revoked...lets hope it never happens eh!

Re: Veterinary Question (was Michael Douglas)
Dear Irene,
Just trying to connect some dots.... Cats and dogs get diabetes. Human medicine categorizes endocrinology and metabolism together, type 2 diabetes a form of mitochondrial disease for many where lack of energy, insulin resistance exists.. Creatine clearance is a standard human kidney function test and there is another.
Is amylase also a marker for humans? Is there a similar test in humans as for cats?
Can cat/dogs have insulin resistance thus mitochondrial issues?
Much allopathic management of diabetes 2 involves blood pressure meds to make sure kidneys don't sustain damage. Same for animals?
Best regards,
Susan

Re: Veterinary Question (was Michael Douglas)
Dear Susan,
You have some good questions here...
In the average diabetic, mitochondria are affected, but they do not need to be:
Diabetes is associated with increased production of reactive oxygen species (ROS for short) and nitrogen species; consequently, an increase in lipid peroxidation and a decrease in antioxidants results in mitochondrial dysfunction.
This can be avoided by using high antioxidant, high animal protein, high animal-omega-3 fatty acid diet (instead of the totally ridiculous diets advocated by the American Diabetes Association and others).
This will overcome insulin resistance IF there is enough magnesium at the cell level.
...along with Glomerular filtration rate, BUN and others including urine tests for protein and microprotein (microalbumin), yes.
No, It is a feline peculiarity that they conjugate amylase with globulins.
Even dogs do not do that, so there is no comparable test option in humans.
Depends what treatment regime they are using
Feline antioxidants are different from human ones. They have to be animal antioxidants.
It turns out that the fruit and veg antioxidants tat are so beneficial to humans are actually toxic to cats.
So cats (and dogs are similar, not identical) must use antioxidants like taurine, Vit E, Ascorbic acid, Fish oil or krill oil, and so on.
The cat ones also work for people - but fruit/veg/herb and other people ones do not work for cats.
Maybe by allopaths.
If you use (for cats or people) enough fish oil and Vit E, AND the right diet, you do not get kidney damage, and in fact you can repair kidney damage that has already happened.
The right diet is critical.
In cats (and to a lesser extent in people) plant protein will damage kidneys, making matters worse.
So will any fruit, veg and herbs, by messing up the pH (which for cats MUST be vert acidic.)
Grains are neutral for kidneys but too high in starch/carbs.
It also needs to be a low carb diet.
Diabetes in animals is often metabolically different from diabetes in humans. For example, the main damage in cats is direct pancreas damage caused by amyloid deposits in the pancreas. This again is unique to cats, and is not relevant in say dogs or people. For this reason most cats need insulin if they are diabetic, as they do not have the pancreas beta cells to make it. However they respond well to homeopathy to remedy the issues and can become normal eaters of GOOD food, without insulin after treatment.
I humans there are innumerable ways to prevent the side effect of high blood pressure, and also to lower it fast if it spikes under stress. Passion flower tea is one option, as is yoga. They each can lower systolic by about 20 points in an hour. More relevant is to avoid WRONG food such as triglycerides, seed oils, starchy foods and sugary foods, and to have extremely high antioxidant foods, fish oil and Vit E - plus of course very high protein - animal not plant. Extra virgin olive oil not other oils. (If someone insists on being vegetarian, kidney beans are better than some plant proteins but we are not designed to be vegetarian so it makes treatment very difficult.)
Namaste,
Irene
