It truly is a dreadful cough. All the suggestions are excellent, of course. When I had it, it responded surprisingly well to Causticum -- which of course is known for that "stuck mucus."

Yes, Causticum sorted me out. It went on and on, and I had the sticky mucus and incontinence each time I seneezed - only a two-legged stool, but it worked.

Re: coughs going around
I haven't gathered any modalities but an unusual thing about this year's cough that I'm hearing a lot is that
it's not really on the chest, it's in the throat, there's a feeling of mucous in the throat - so they can't
decide whether it's a dry cough or a wet cough.
Nat Mur worked here for my daughter's cough, but I caught it quite early, so I don't know if there was
that mucous in the throat issue.

I have been discussing coughs with a number of people and there appears to be what could be an epidemic arising that data might be worth gathering from. Two pertinent points being the coughs are lasting too long and well selected rx are not >>> (of course the latter means not the simillimum so you keep trying but maybe there is a clue there to look more closely, be more observant).
You now have a good cough MM to hand. Modalities are gold dust in cases like this as are any concomitant sx - one case I have at present it is sx of diarrhoea with the cough.
The difficult expectoration seems to be high ranking as does the fact there seems to be a lot of mucous and thirdly the need to sit up.
Ant tart and Kali carb are the rx I am prescribing at present which fit.
If anyone else is seeing these coughs it would be good that they report them in some way.
