coughs going around

Post by Carol Orr »

Anyone have any idea what the whatchamacallit remedy might be for these
coughs. My is coming from my chest but the mucus i'm trying to seems to higher
up. Its rattling and sounds like a lot of mucus...but for the amount of
wretching coughing and my stomach muscles are involved..so little mucus comes
out. My mother has similar rattlling in her throat..and seems to be sticky and
stick even in her mouth . My mucus seems to be stuck..adhering ..I'm always
worse lying down..the minute my head hits the pillow. And i can hear my mother
rattling during the night and i'm afraid because she can't cough hard enough
to swallow or bring up. I gave her puls 30 c...and myself i took caust
30...but the cough continues. My granddaughter had a cough and i gave her dros
and she never had another cough after that. I tried that and it didn't work.
I'll be fine...but if i lie down...a horrible long lasting deep spasmodic type
cough and i have to immediately sit up and work it until the little bit of
mucus comes up from not even my chest..but higher up. Anytime i get excited
when i'm talking it gets worse. I've tried honey.

Hello Carol,
A few more to consider:

Antim. Tart. – much rattling in the chest

Calc Carb – with tickling provoking the cough

Coccus Cacti – with a sensitive throat and paroxysmal cough

Drosera – paroxysmal cough with laryngitis or laryngeal spasm

Phosphorus – dry racking cough, worse when talking

Senega - viscid sputum

Spongia – paroxysmal dry cough sounding like a bark

Sticta – dry night cough
Hope you are feeling better. Don’t forget a nice hot shower – or putting your head over a steaming bowl.

Hi Carol!

Your statement that your cough is worse, The Minute My Head Hits The Pillow, is a Keynote for Drosera.
Hope this is helpful.

I have been discussing coughs with a number of people and there appears to be what could be an epidemic arising that data might be worth gathering from. Two pertinent points being the coughs are lasting too long and well selected rx are not >>> (of course the latter means not the simillimum so you keep trying but maybe there is a clue there to look more closely, be more observant).

You now have a good cough MM to hand. Modalities are gold dust in cases like this as are any concomitant sx - one case I have at present it is sx of diarrhoea with the cough.

The difficult expectoration seems to be high ranking as does the fact there seems to be a lot of mucous and thirdly the need to sit up.

Ant tart and Kali carb are the rx I am prescribing at present which fit.

If anyone else is seeing these coughs it would be good that they report them in some way.

It truly is a dreadful cough. All the suggestions are excellent, of course. When I had it, it responded surprisingly well to Causticum -- which of course is known for that "stuck mucus."
