yes, it would make more sense if the balance was too low in Omega 3 and
too high in 6. It must happen the other way as well, but it's hard to
understand how.
It could be a maintaining cause if the diet was deficient in the
substance. But if the diet provides adequate nutrition and the person
still gets deficiency symptoms which go away when the nutrient is taken
in larger than normal amounts then this is just symptom management and
not resolving a maintaining cause.
How long does the average cracked lip take to clear up without
intervention? I would have thought 3 days to be pretty normal. Nat mur
by the way for a cracked lip - are there others?

Re: dry, cracked finger tips
I concur with this.
However, another thought:
Many people take flax instead of fish oil for their "omega-3", and
that contains linolenic acid which is inflammatory.
Fish oil contains two omega-3 fatty acids that are ANTI-inflammatory.
I'd suggest the use of extra virgin olive oil for its omega-9 (also
rice bran) .... and fish oil for its beneficial omega-3 - these
sources being anti-inflammatory.
Usually it is the ratios of fatty acids that are wrong PLUS the over-
use of inflammatory versus anti-inflammatory fatty acids.
(Soy also can skew the immune system so hopefully that's not in the
diet.)
Namaste,
Irene
