Re: stretch marks
Well, let's see...
I've heard thousands of times that they can't be *removed*, but they can be
improved.
Healthy diet and excercise seem to be crucial, because the stretching of the
skin is what seems to make them appear, so the patient should try to keep a
steady weight. This is nothing new.
I remember some ten years ago a naturopath doctor friend of mine greatly
improving a case of stretch marks with zinc supplements (but this is still
allopathy). So, one would say, in a healthier and more conscious light,
encouraging the patient to eat foods rich in zinc might help, instead of
giving supplements which may cause greater imbalances later on. And also,
I'm guessing that her patient did have some zinc defficiency. Part of the
treatment was also that half the patient's total food intake should be raw
vegetables. But this was the stage of early formation of stretch marks, when
they're red and not completely superficial. She said she had great success.
Now, I don't know if Zincum might help in homeopathic form.
As far as rubrics go, maybe "scars" could be a starting point?
I've also heard that rosa mosqueta oil and cocoa butter improve the
appearance of stretch marks when applied externally, but I don't know if
it's a myth.
Best,
Caro.

Re: stretch marks
Rosa Mosqueta oil may well be another one to research. See
www.riohealth.co.uk There is something about it on this site.

Re: stretch marks
hello
try Calc-fl as tissue salt. I suggested for some of my clients and they are happy with the results.

Re: stretch marks
Hello Lora,
I've not seen Thios to do much for stretch marks – since the 'mark' is usually more of a pigment change in the skin as opposed to a growth of scar/tear/wound tissue. Although I have seen Thios cream work absolute miracles on scars – even very old scars. What I have seen work very nicely for pregnancy was high quality natural vitamin E rubbed on prior to and after birth, and a bit taken internally depending on the situation. I think it is as much the massaging (circulation) as the application of a nutrient to the tissue as it goes through it's natural cycle of replacement of skin cells. Hydration is also a key factor. You can't go wrong with good nutrition and hydration, but I would be reluctant to give homeopathic remedies for 'stretch marks' - would rather focus on appropriate remedy(ies) for mum and baby as needed to keep them heathy, happy and comfortable.

Re: stretch marks
Thanks for the info Azadeh and Donna for info on stretch marks
I hope she comes in for constitutional treatment as well as her newborn but that is my wish not hers
Sometimes if you can help with the superficial problems the individuals become more curious about what we can offer, I find you can explain Homeopathy in various ways and sometimes people don't hear it until they are ready She is a clients relative...

Re: stretch marks
Stretch marks are Striae Gravidarum
The glucocorticoid hormones responsible for the development of stretch marks, affect the dermis by preventing the fibroblasts from forming collagen and elastin fibers, necessary to keep rapidly growing skin taut. This creates a lack of supportive material, as the skin is stretched and leads to dermal and epidermal tearing.
In humans, the most important glucocorticoids are cortisol (hydrocortisone) and cortisone.
in Synthesis:
Skin
Striae. = Cortisonum
reference from James Stephenson Hahnemannian Provings MM and Repertory
Keynotes are similar to Cortictropinum.
re Calc fluor:
Calc fluor's has an affinity with, "the elastic fibers: esp. of veins"; Phatak's Materia Medica.
Clarke’s Dictionary of MM; Elastic fibers in the cells of the epidermis
Vermeulen’s Concordant; Scar Tissue and adhesions after surgery
Probably wouldn’t hurt to massage the affected area(s) with vitamin E oil
