Spelling of Homoepahty

Post by Katharina Menzi Pantermarakis »

My mother language is German and i have also good knowledge of the Greek.
In the ancient Greek you find the word Homoios, what can mean both identical and similiar, and the word pathos, which also has different meanings like emotions , misfortune, pain. Hahnemann formed from that two roots the word Homöopathie, from the original oi he made the german Umlaut ö, a letter only known in German and also difficult to pronounce for strangers. Most strangers when speaking German pronounce that ö like e. Therefore from the german Homöopathie to Homeopathy it's not very far.
But is the spelling so important? Important is for me, that we all mean the same.
