Hello Everybody,
I am having a patient, a boy aged 5 yrs who presents with micropenis since
the time of birth. The parents thought he would become better after
circumcision and did that. The boy still has the problem. I would like to
know if somebody has experience in such cases earlier. Moreover I would like
to know the scope of homoeopathy in such a case. All responses are welcome.
****Dear Dr. Shiraz
I have two clients with this anatomical feature --- one is a 62 year old
and the other a 13yr old.
The cause of the micropenis is different for each and i am not treating
the older man for this problem, but for other problems that exist from this
unfortunate circumstance from birth --- the older man incurred problems in
utero due to an idodine excess.
The young boy has had quite a few signs of lack of hormonal development
over the years eg., hairless on body, slight feminine features .......... ,
however, his penis has increased in size sufficiently in the past year, so
that it falls within a percentile range that is considered normal (although
a low score). It seems that in some cases, depending on the cause, if the
hormones kick in in puberty, it can correct itself. If this does not happen,
then there is probably little hope, as the window of opportunity may pass.
Male hormones play an important role in this regard until the early
twenties I think, so if homoeopathic treatment can lead to a correction of
any imbalance in the hormonal secretions then the problem could resolve. It
is a shame about the circumcision being used to try and correct this
problem -- no logic there -- a little like adding insult to injury!
A s I said, it depends on what is the cause
Best
Robyn

The first cause of micropenis is wrong diagnosis.
Many times it looks like micropenis, but is normal.
A right examination will tell you.
Sometimes the skin around the penis base hasn't
a kind of ligament that holds it back or if the patient
is obese there a lot of fat around.
You have to hold the penis between the thumb and
the index and move back until you reach the pubis
to see the real size.
Many times you will see that is normal.
If it is a true micropenis then you will have to
investigate all the possible causes (hormonal, etc)
as Robyn pointed out.
I hope it helps
