Hello Rochelle, Hahnemannian,All,
If at all you want to purchase Allen's American
edition of Boenninghaussen's Therapeutic Pocket book,
don't buy jain's edition. A better version is
available from IBPP, New Delhi. This contains all the
good things of a nice print besides the introduction
of 'small capitals' in place of bold roman in small
case for the fourth grade.
Thus it has
1. big capitals for the fifth grade
2. small capitals for the fourth
3. italics in lower case for the third
4. normal roman in lower case for the second
5. normal roman in lower case in brackets for the
first grade
Please visit Hans weitbrecht's site
www.boger-boenninghaussen.com for the real meaning of
the five grades.(also the archives in both minutus and
homeolist where myself, chris,Julian etc have
contributed).
Most important, read the introduction by Roberts FULLY
taking each part into heart as you go along. Roberts
himself has said the Concordances has remained a
mystery to most Homeopaths.
Boger's stands on a wider base with its eight legs
compared to Boenninghaussen's four.
Boen's structure is
1. location ( its importance is there from olden days
of specifics- including mind)
2. sensation:(subjective and objective)
3. Modality(including mind)
4. Concomittants
The importance of the four is also as per the list.
Boger's structure
1. Location
2. Sensation(Local)
3. Time modality(local)
4. Modality(local)
5. Sensation: (general)
6. Time modality (General)
7. Modality (general)
8. Concomittant( this is my addition for clarity since
boger has incorporated the concomitants into the
chapters)
I use Boger most of the time for acute work, (true and
exacerbations) with good results but Kentist types for
chronic and constitutional analysis esp food-
genarals, mentals etc. But even here I had good
success with Boger. For those long used to kent might
find it strangely simple to use the TPB and Boger but
once the structure and logic are understood, will
start admiring it. Hahnemann has praised TPB as
'eminently desirable' and Roberts has remarked it as
' most Foolproof' among the sixty odd repertories he
used.

Venkat

Re: Boenninghausen's repertory(was : Management/mold questions)
Thanks but I don't think I have a choice on this one. It will be what the supplier has in stock. I will look into it when I return from abroad. Really I am interested in the related remedies as you discussed in your last post.
