It is World Year of Physics. It is therefore worth remembering that
quantum theory shows that observers alter the very nature of the atomic
systems they observe. Humans do the same in their pursuit of truth.
Even "absolute" scientific truth.

A very important factor in homeopathy or any other energy
medicine. Much more than we as a profession like to think . It

Behaviors at the quantum level are very different from those at the
macroscopic level. Perhaps some things *are* the same at both levels
(e.g. perhaps a "regular world" observer really does influence the
thing s/he is observing), but perhaps not... Paraphrasing a recent
Discover magazine: An electron can be in two places at once--can you?
Newtonian physics works very well within our general size range; but it
fails utterly (and resoundingly, a positively weirdly!) at the
sub-atomic scale (and at other extremes as well). Scientifically
minded people tend to get queasy when these parallels are drawn too
freely...

Yes indeed...
I was thinking about that. Actually I can get fairly (as JW used to
say) woo-woo myself, but I do get squeamish when theory tries to
overthrow observations, which is exactly the impression that so many of
"such suggestions" come across to me. And if they raise *my* hackles
(and I am, actually, pretty darned willing to make leaps into the
unknown, *when* such leaps seem justified to me), then I really squirm
thinking how they will affect people who are both more scientifically
trained (and rigorous) than I, and also less "pre-washed" (y'know, like
pre-washed jeans, being so already broken-in?). It really makes me
uncomfortable, tho I realize a certain amount of conflict (between
folks of different trainings and different backgrounds) is certainly
inevitable, and we don't need to be *too* apologetic about it.

We keep hearing stories about really weird "coincidences" that happen
during provings, after prescribing, etc., so by now I (personally
speaking) completely accept that there seems to be an intriguing
"non-Newtonian" aspect to the whole thing. (*What* whole thing? Er,
um... To Be Determined...) But I think (speaking personally again)
that we will do ourselves a disservice if we slide to easily into an
"anything goes" frame of mind.

Sigh, it's late, I'm tired, I can't run this thread to the end like I'd
like to, sadly.
Just wanted to throw in some thoughts about it, tho.
