****Hi Margaret

I gathered from your post that you were more interested in etiology rather
than a remedy suggestion.
I have a thought on the above description of your symptoms.

This is just a thought, and please do not misinterpret the offering thinking
I think this is what the problem is -- it is one idea.

There is a condition called 'Angioedema', which has painless swelling,
nonpruruitic, and in well-circumscribed areas -- caused by increased
vascular permeability.

It can occur in the head and neck, face, lips, floor of mouthy, tongue and
larynx, or any portion of the body. It can also involve the gastrointestinal
tract, leading to intestinal wall edema, which can result in symptoms such
as colicky abdo pain, nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea.

Angioedema can be hereditary, acquired or associated with allergic
reactions, or result from medications, and then there is the good old
idiopathic incidence.

This is just one possibility ---- but never the less, due to the painless
character and location and the changeability of the swelling, I would hazard
a guess that it was likely to be an allergic reaction.

Because edema in the throat can be life threatening, it may be a good idea
to have a proper medical diagnosis --- blood tests should show up
eosinophilia indicating allergy, and leukocytes indicating bacterial
infection of some kind etc......

Once you know what you are dealing with, Homoeopathic treatment may be
implemented.

Hope this helps in some way

Best
