Funny reaction

Post by Shannon Nelson »

This is a reaction my epileptic friend/patient recently had to a dose
of Staph--which had helped her greatly, not too long before. Later she
mentioned that she gets this "all the time" when she is under stress,
whether for e.g. environmental, or from head injury, or blood sugar, or
other:

"Losing muscle control in my arms--my hands wouldn't do what I wanted
them to." Had been getting feelings of weakness in limbs, then
tickling feeling, "like if I tried to put my hand around something, it
wouldn't quite do it, or my hand would twist intead." Tickling in my
limbs when I tried to use them. Legs felt weak, arms weak and tickly.
Like if you first wake up in the morning it tickles, you can't do
anything quickly--like that all over."

[[I don't ever remember waking up in the morning feeling like that...
Anyone have thoughts?]]

At the same time she had: "pretty profound mental confusion, like
being on acid, except without visual hallucinations. {My daughter]
would say something, and I'd be trying to figureout what she meant,
like th words didn't make sense, or I couldn't quite string them
together, like they had some other meaning I couldnt' quite grasp. I
kept getting stumped by ordinary things. She'd ask me something, and
I'd have no idea how to answer. It's a somewhat familiar state, like
some of the head i njury stuff. ... It was the most crazy, nightmarish
feeling."

And: "explosive outbursts of anger, outraged, would go off on [my
daughter] over relatively small things. Extreme rage, and then it's
gone. ... When I thought she was not being helpful. ... Feeling like,
well obviously I *need* help, so how can you be ... "

****
It was (oddity #1) a very intense and violent reaction to an LM dose
of a type that has generally worked very well for her, to a remedy that
had previously worked well.

She ameliorated the reaction with a dose of Nat-m LM-2, which had
worked extremely well for her, infrequent doses over the past year,
with huge progress--but (oddity #2) this dose and the one just prior,
altho they did what was needed, also left behind some extremely
uncomfortable (proving?) symptoms--heat and tingling in head; pretty
bad heart weirdness; feelings of pressure and anxiety.

She eliminated *those* with (not-oddity, but useful point) a single,
deep sniff of tea tree oil. Which put her back where she had been
pre-staph, and I am scratching my head... And poring thru past notes.

As I pull more thoughts together I may try putting up more on this, but
would love any thoughts on these chunks of it!

Thanks,
Shannon

Hi Shannon,

I can't make much sense from the 'chunks' of this case that you put up. In the beginning of your description you say she has had these sensations before. If that is the case I would think that this might be an aggravation, and maybe the antidote has been applied too quickly?
The outbursts of anger are imo a common Staph aggravation.
So to me it looks like the remedy choice was good, but the dose a bit too strong.

Hi Shannon,
hte first thign that comes to mind is that this is a type of partial
seizure.
It is a PARTIAL seizure diorder involving a different portion of the
brain than when she had convulsive symptoms - if you want the proper
medical diagnosis and region of the brain affected, I'd have to take
a look at my medical textbooks.

In terms of remedy. You may be on a very close remedy (NAt Mur) or on
a phase remedy (Staph).
So take a look at NAt Sulph - since you mention head injury - before
looking at other remedies that cover seizure disorders in their
pathology.
Hope this helps.

Thanks, I'll look again at nat-sulph. I *think* the (rest of the)
picture goes beyond its bounds, but I will look. So you're saying the
awkwardness and tickly feeling might be partial seizure? That makes
sense, especially as she's also talked about having partial seizures at
times (as well as the full-out type).
Thanks!
Shannon

YEs that's a possibility if these episodes last a few minutes to a
few hours.

NAt SUlph could be a synthetic prescription between NAt Mur and
Sulphur and may not have a representationin the MAt MEds.

BUT Helleborous is an excellent suggestion if the 'Rubric" thread is
about the same case.
