Water dose questions

Post by Shannon Nelson »

One of my "patients" just yesterday took the remedy I had recently
suggested (her first time taking that one). She took 200c dry,
intending it as a single dose (her preference), then last night
realized that she has a dentist appointment today, which will involve
drilling. My experience with drilling has been, if the remedy was
given less than about two weeks prior, the remedy was indeed antidoted;
but if the remedy had had at least a couple of weeks to take hold, then
drilling did not upset it. (Have others had different or similar
experience with this?)

So I am assuming that her appointment today will knock the remedy out,
if indeed it was going to act. By Fourth Edition method I would (or so
I was trained) have to wait at least a few weeks to make *sure* that
the remedy wasn't still going to act. Could I have her take--after her
appointment, perhaps tomorrow--a single water dose of the same potency,
and trust that it would resume where the dry dose was interrupted?
(And do I gather correctly that, altho a water dose *can* be repeated
frequently with succussions, it does not *need* to be and a single
water dose will act in pretty much the same manner as a single dry
dose?)

Thanks!
Shannon

Well, when it comes to the water dose question, I have no idea whatever
what my criteria would be, since I have no experience using Cs in water
dose, and haven't read appropriately to make an educated guess, other
than what I wrote.

Maybe I should change (or supplement) the question...
Does anyone have a more appealing suggestion than "wait at least four
weeks to see whether the remedy is acting; if not, give another dose
and see if *that* one acts"?

Basically, I give a test dose - really would benefit from reading David
Little's info and Luc de Schepper's book
Luc De Schepper
From http://www.wholehealthnow.com or Dana probably has it or minimum.com

All is spelled out thoroughly there with scenarios, cases and more. Best
$70 I've spent!

Determine sensitivity of the patient - David gives a lot of info on this on
his pages
If hypersensitive, mid sensitive, or hyposensitive

If hypersensitive
8oz of water/brandy mix with 1 pillule of 6C of remedy. Succuss bottle 2
times for hypersensitive.
Take 1 tsp of that and put in 4 oz of water (remedy cup) and then take 1
tsp of that as the dose.
I have the patient check in with my daily and determine within a few days
if results from remedy and what those results are.
Then I decide whether to wait, if remedy is working well; or repeat; or
increase or decrease repetitions; or increase or decrease amount of dose; etc.

But it makes it so much easier.

If person is midsensitive or hyposensitive, I use 6 oz of water/brandymix
with 1 pillule of 6C remedy. Succuss from 2-10 or more times depending on
sensitivity (the more hyposensitive, the more times you
succuss)...................really have to individualize and remember the
first dose is a test dose. You will see if you have chosen well with that
first dose and if an aggravation or proving symptoms, they will pass within
a short period of time and not be 'grafted' on or very problematic for the
patient.
But the book really helps you to get all the nuances of this.

It really isn't difficult. In fact much easier.

Here is the instruction sheet I use..............with modifications for
each patient................

EACH PATIENT is individualized, but you will get the idea from
this...................I MONITOR THEM closely for the first 1-5 days or
longer with the test dose and then determine where to go from
there............this instruction sheet helps them to understand and know
what to do if can't reach me for some reason...........

Instructions for Taking Your Homeopathic Remedy: _________________ Date
__________

1. Succuss the bottle each time before taking a dose: that is, hit the
bottle against the palm of your hand or a leather-bound book _____ times.
Give it a good hard whack from a distance of about 2 feet.
2. 2. Take _________ from the bottle and put it in a cup with 4 oz. of
water (Dosage Cup). (Ideally the water should be distilled or filtered or
bottled pure spring water but tap water is acceptable if that is all you
have). Stir vigorously with a spoon. Use a plastic cup and spoon which
you will only use for this remedy, not for food or for other remedies.
Label the cup.
3. 3. Take ______ from the Dosage Cup/Bottle every
__________hours/days/weeks.
4. 4. Discard the rest of the water in the cup. NEVER DRINK THE WHOLE
CUP. Do not save it overnight. You need to make a new cup the next time
you are instructed to take a dose, after succussing the remedy bottle
again. Otherwise you will not be following the methodical and systematic
progression of potencies which are part of this healing system, and you may
interfere with the progress of your cure.
5. 5. If this is a first time dose, call Sheri in _______ hours/days, to
let her know how you reacted to the remedy. She will call you back with
instructions for further dosing.

Special Precautions:
· Try to keep it out of direct sunlight and away from heat (eg. NOT in the
glove compartment of your car on a hot day). Avoid having it x-rayed when
traveling.
· Do not eat or drink anything for 20 minutes before or after taking your
remedy. Also avoid taking around the time you brush your teeth
· Coffee may alter the effects of the remedy. Drinking coffee may antidote
the remedy. Tea is acceptable as are other caffeine-containing foods like
cola and chocolate.
· If you have symptoms related to your menstrual cycle, don't start a new
remedy while having PMS or during your menstrual cycle, as your symptoms
may aggravate

After taking your first dose:
1. DON'T REPEAT THE REMEDY. Wait and observe changes-mentally,
emotionally, and physically.
2. Call me at 530-740-0561 / 01874 624 936 or email me at
homeopathycures@tesco.net
a. If you notice significant improvement (50% or more) at any time, STOP
taking the remedy, and call me
b. If you notice an aggravation at any time, stop taking the remedy, and
call me.
c. If you notice the return of an old symptom, stop taking the remedy and
call me.
d. If you develop a symptom you've NEVER had before, stop taking the remedy
and call me
e. If there is no change, you may continue to take one dose of the remedy
every other day in the same way
f. If I am not available and you don't know what to do, STOP taking the
remedy.

3. If you experience no change in 3 weeks, call me

Call me once a week with an update. I will continually evaluate your
response to the remedy

To supplement that and confuse more Dr Ramakrishnan give 3 pillules in water - stir, take 4 teaspoon doses on one day and repeats this fortnightly in the 200C potency!!
For your patient I personally would wait a week or so to see if there has been any reaction and then maybe repeat if not after a fortnight if you are convinced you have the correct Rx. I would want to see some sort of reaction good or an agg within that time.

Thanks, Sheri!
I'll try to get Luc's book, am glad to hear your enthusiasm about it!
But re the particular situation (dental drilling after 24 hours)
consensus seems to be that I just need to wait it out for a few weeks,
don't give a water dose just on the assumption that it antidoted? (She
is mid-sensitive, has used both dry doses and LMs in the past; it's the
drilling situation that's confused me, but I guess we just have to
wait...)
Thanks again!

Shannon,
this clearly depends on what has been her response to the first dose
of 200C.
IF there has been a dramatic response (that happens VERY often) then
you don't need to repeat. This usually speaks of a good susceptiblity
and sensitivity as well as good remedy. the vital force sets into
motion right away.
If there has been no change, then you will need to repeat (anyway)
and a water dose is the best option.

IF there has been a small response, then you would need to check
whether those changes have remained consistent even after dental
work. it will give you an indication of how close your remedy is as
similimum. Similimum rarely get antidoted back to square one.

Hope this helps,
leela

Dear Shannon,

I would think such a situation has to be individualized. I have seen
doses antidoted and I have seen doses act through such interventions. A
good remedy often will go right through them. A water dose can only be
repeated frequently IF NEEDED. If it is not really needed it may cause
aggravations. One can over medicate with the water dose just like the dry
dose. The difference is that if you see a slow down in the remedy action
you do not have to wait for a full relapse of symptoms as with the dry
dose. You can repeat the dose a bit earlier if needed.

One really should not think that the water dose can be repeated
frequently without any consequences no matter what the situation. Just like
the dry dose or olfaction, the medicinal solution is still a dose of the
remedy. What the medical solution offers is the ability to repeat the
split-dose to speed the cure in cases that only improve slowly to a single
dry or liquid dose.

Sincerely, David Little

Thanks David!
I guess I'm resigned to waiting to see what happens...
I wasn't looking to repeat the water dose *frequently*, I just wondered
whether I could give one single water dose, as follow-up to the one
single (and possibly antidoted) dry dose...

There was definitely some action from the remedy, but whether start of
a healing response or simply disruptive, I can't tell at this point.
I *think* that the remedy start to act (aggravated? un-suppressed?) but
was antidoted (now she feels "back to [pre-remedy] normal", but I'm not
sure yet. If there is a chance that giving a water dose now might be
(further?) disruptive, then I guess I will have to wait...

And--I will have to read up some more! (Today I gardened instead! :-)
)
Thanks much for clarifying!
Best wishes,
Shannon
