rubric help - prolonged colds

Post by VR VR »

Hi,
I'm treating a 5 year old girls who suffers from sleep apnea when she has a cold. The mother said it takes her a long time to recover when she gets a cold - does anyone know of a rubric for this?
Thanks,
Vera

Maybe consider "Throat, induration of tonsils", assumptions that (a)
the apnea is caused by lymph node swelling, (b) tonsils would be the
ones involved in apnea(I think?), and (c) if they were normal-sized,
the added swelling from a simple cold would not make them swell so much
as to interfere with breathing? Can you tell if there are any swollen
glands when she *isn't* sick? (Actually, "Throat, indulration"
contains all the same remedies plus four additional ones, so might be
the better rubric to use.)

Taking a long time to recover from colds does not seem to me like a
useful symptom; it just means that she's not very healthy. I'd look
more to all of the other ways that her "delicacy" is being
expressed--what things does she have a hard time with, and how does she
react to them?
Best,
Shannon

The remedy that comes through these two rubrics is Sambucus, which is also in the large rubric "Generals Tendency to Take Cold." Worth looking at???
