Dear Syed Mohsin - salaams
I saw this programme when it was first broadcast. Basically, the experiment
was trying to repeat work that Jacques Benveniste had done in 1988.
Please see http://www.digibio.com/
The Horizon prog was following similar work done at Belfast university by a
prof who was sceptical about homoeopathy. The Belfast professor and other
labs had done the work and repeated it satisfactorily.
Then we have the experiment repeated by Horizon with involvement of James
Randi the magician risking 1M dollars if the effect could be proven!
http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/horizon/20 ... athy.shtml
(please remember that NATURE used James Randi to discredit JB's work - he
handled the samples and marked them and again the results were
inconsistent - Ask your self a major question - what do magicians do? SLIGHT
OF HAND!).
The Horizon prog showed that half the samples had an effect on the
basophiles and the other half did not.
Also at the same time half the water samples (they had been potentised too)
showed a similar effect.
I immediately wrote to Horizon and stated that it was unexpected that
water - even if potentised should have an effect on the basophiles so
therefore either they had made a great discovery about the properties of
water or that more likely SOME ONE HAD SWITCHED THE SAMPLES during the
labelling. I received no response. Sadly at such dilutions it would
impossible to do any quantitative work.
I even posted the question on their forum - no response.
If I remember correctly, no homoeopath had co-operated with the programme.
The interesting point is that BBC2's programme QED which should that Hom was
not Placebo was one of the reasons for me to start studying homoeopathy.

Dear Sisters and Brothers, Homoeopaths!
I am not a regular viewer of TV and could not watch BBC's programme about
Homoeopathy shown for the first time possibly during the yeay 2002 in their
series known as 'Horizon'. I had the opportunity of viewing one of its
repeat telecasts recently.
whole programme. In the end, BBC concludes as under:-
"Homeopathy is back where it started without any credible scientific
explanation. That won't stop millions of people putting their faith on it,
but science is confident. Homeopathy is impossible."
I am sure many of us must have vatched this programme and challenged its
contents. Was this done? Do we have any thing on Internet to prove that the
results drawn in the programme were non-scientific?
