Morning sickness in pregnancy
Hello everyone
Having recently qualified I have found myself seeing a number of women in
early pregnancy with morning sickness one to the extent where she was
hospitatlised and recieving many diffent medications to try to alleviate the
problem.
I have given the indicated remedy and it has not always had the desired
effect, sometimes it has. I spoke to a very experienced homoeopath during my
training who said that homoeopathy cannot always help this problem. This is
soemthing I cannot believe.
Would anyone care to share their own experience of pregnancy sickness with me?
Many Thanks
Suzanne

Shaklee vitamin B did. about 10 tablets a day. I have heard this from many

this with no vested interest. Never took the stuff after pregnancies, but it
was the only thing that did the trick twice.
Grateful mothers will thank you.

Although it is true that the B vitamins are involved in morning sickness, i have never gotten clear information as to which ones are most critical. I think B6 and folic acid are 2 biggies.
As to homeopathy, Murphy lists 42 remedies under morning sickness and then list 5 subcategories of rubrics. Not surprisingly, remedies such as nux-v and ip are included in the list.

Hello Suzanne,
Yes, many women in early pregnency that to happen to be 1st pregnency, donot
respond immediately to indicated remedy,Women who do not respond ,are of
lower vital energy due to some chronic disease they are suffering due to
acquired or inherited tendencies.
When indicated remedy fails to give required result ,I use nosode
.Commonly indicated nosode is Medorrhinum. I prescribe Medorrhinum in 200
potency in water ,2-3 doses at 2-3 hrs gap,and wait for 3-4 days. That it
self resolves ,if not once again prescribe indicated remedy .Generally I
prescribe in 6c potency and 30 if symptoms relapse once again.Very rarely
under homoeopathic treament one needs hospitalisation
I hope this helps

Re: Morning sickness in pregnancy
I don't know the potency. I had tried many, to no avail. But for some reason,
the Shaklee which seems to be made of compressed brewers yeast, judging by
tast, worked for me and many others. I also tried the Medorhinum, suggested
in another post, with no improvement, and had morning sickness for 5 months.
My son I was pregnant with, it turns out, has many food allergies, and a very
sensitive stomach. I think had I found his similimum, it would have affected
my digestion.ANy thoughts on this?

Re: Morning sickness in pregnancy
Dear Friends,
I have been following through all of yours-- discussion regarding morning
sickness during pregnancy. In pregnancy try not to use much medications
either traditional or herbal. The best way is good nutrition, exercise, good
rest & a healthy attitude. & adequate relaxation.
Well, I have treated my patients with Homeopathy & as well asi have given
them supplements with Vitamin B6 & as well nutritional guidance.
It worked beautifully & all of my patients delivered healthy babies without
any complications.
So I thought that I would like to share it with all of you.
May be it is useful to you all in some ways.
In Homeopathy I had used the following remedies--- Sepia 30c, Nux
vomica 30c & I asked them to take Biochemic homeopathic tissue salt
Natrum phosphorus 6X. Only once I had to use Ipeaca 30C, Then I followed
with
Sepia 30c in the AM & gave Nux Vomica 30c in the evening
The the vomiting of the pregnant women stopped, so I continued it for a
week & then I only supplemented it with Natrum Phos.6x 4 tablets taken two
times a day 15 minutes after eating lunch & dinner.
Also when they wake up early morning before getting out of bed they ate a
Toasted whole wheat bread without any butter or anything. It helped to reduce
the acidity & they did not have persistent nause or vomiting.
along with their Prenatal vitamins I added extra dose of Vitamin B6,
Pyridoxine 50mg, once daily.
Usual dose of Vitamin B6 is in male 1.3mg/day ( 19-50yrs).
1.7mg/day(51yrs& UP)
In females 1.3mg/day(19-50yrs), 1.6mg/day(51yrs & up.)
Maintainence dose could be from 10mg to 100mg /day & not more.
Major sources of vitamin B6 can be found in -- Pork, Brewer;s yeast, eggs,
chicken, carrots, fish, liver, kidney, peas, wheat germs, walnuts,
sunflowersseeds, spinach, black strap molasses, broccolli, brown rice, rice
bran, cabbage, corn, plantain, bananas, potatoes, alfa alfa sprouts, lentil
sprouts, catnip, & oat straw, soyabeans, & beans.
All the vegetables are mostlty eaten fresh or slightly blanched. because
B6 is easily destroyed by cooking, heat , sunlight exposures.
One has to be careful in asking if the patients is on certain medications
like Steroids, they tend to reduce the absorption of Vitamin B6
Be careful if it is taken in megadoses it can lead to toxic & serious
affects--- Like Sensory ataxia-- lower limbs become numb & have sensory
deficient. In position & vibration.
Sense of touch & temperatures are not affected so much.
Motor & central nervous sytem are not affected.
Recovery is very slow. One should totally stop the person from taking B6
completely.
It is indicated in many other diseases
Carpal tunnel sybdrome, PMS, weak memory, Nausea & vomiting during
pregnacy, acne, cracks in the corners of mouth & lips area, depressions,
arthritis, Fatigue, asthma, learning disorders, like ADHD, improves the
immune system, eating disorders like anorexia & bulimia, allergies
especially allergic rhinitis, hay fever type, alcoholism,& Aging.
I guess I just want to say if giving any type of medications whether they
are vitamins or any other medicines please bear in mind the side affects.
Because the side affects can cause more harm than we all know.
I am speaking with experience. Because I have been a victum of side affects
of medicine toxicity.
The best way to treat any of your patients is a very good history. You
wiil get most of your answers from it.
I do hope that it helps a bit to all of you who wanted to know about this
nausea during pregnancy.
good Luck to all of you.
Have a good day
Shashi

Dear Shashi
You have said:
"Then I followed with Sepia 30c in the AM & gave Nux Vomica 30c in the

Please explain the logic and justify the reasons behind this prescription.

Re: Morning sickness in pregnancy
A friend of mine had extreme hyperemesis gravidarum and she lost a stone and
a half during the first four months of her pregnancy. She was only 7 stone to
begin with and we were very concerned. I couldn't find a remedy to help her,
I began to think she needed a different solution. We tried blending fruit up
and gave her a small glass of it. She kept it down for half an hour which was
29 minutes more than usual. Over the course of a week she managed to keep
fruit down and then went on to normal food. Yippee. Within 4 days of having
her baby she was the same weight as she had been at the beginning. I wasn't.
We were pregnant at the same time and I've still got half a stone to go. But
hey, that's another story.
