SIMILIMUM AND MIASM
Law of Nature states:-.

"A weaker dynamic affection is permanently
extinguished in the living
organism by a stronger one, if the latter (whilst
differing in kind)
is very similar to the former in its manifestation"

Homoeopathy itself represent the Law of Nature i.e.
only to the Law of nature not any thing else e.g
complexes,patents,mother tintures,
biochemics etc. etc. have nothing to do with this holy
name "HOMOEOPATHY".
In homoeopathy eradication of disease is only possible
if we select most simlimum drug based on above said
Law. Any non-simlimum or partial simlimum will lead to
suppression of disease. What is purpose of finding a
simlimu? To treat the MAN-IN- DISEASE not the
DISEASE-IN-MAN as mentioned in first aphorism i.e.
"The Physician's high and only mission is
to restore the sick to
health, to cure as it is termed"

In above paragraph Dr Hahnemann very clearly said that
the physician should worry about THE SICK AND NOT
SICKNESS. An allopath is always worried about the
sickness so he does every effort to know what is the
actual sickness is present in the sick. But the true
Hahnemannian is only anxious to understand THE SICK OR
THE MAN i.e THE MAN AS A WHOLE not only in mentals or
physicals or only in few keynotes.
An ideal case taking is the only tool to understand
the man in disease.
So for right Simlimum one has to understand the
patient as a whole. Physician has to understand the
MAN'S MAKEUP from the core of genetics. Genes are
responsible for the person's constitution. Especially
in chronic cases the constitutional study of the
patient is most essential to find the constitutional
simlimum remedy or in Dr. Vijayakar's words genetical
constitutional simlimum ( G.C.S.). There is a
difference of case taking in both acute and chronic
cases. In acute one has to consider the only present,
striking and troublesome state both at mental and
physical level. Dr. Vijayakar's acute chart is also
very effective in acutes. But in chronic cases one has
to consider every aspect of patient life, taking in
only one aim that he is going to recognise the Man In
Sickness. After percieving the sick he is going to
apply his materia medica knowledge according to law of
similar to find the right simlimum. Right similimum is
one which is based on law of similar and after
prescribing to a patient which is capable of
establishing well being in the sick according to
Herrings Law of Cure and it should be given in dynamic
or potentised form as very beautifully stated in
aphorism 16.

"Our vital force, as a spirit - like dynamis, cannot
be attacked and affected
by injurious influences on the healthy organism caused
by the external
inimical forces that disturb the harmonious play of
life, otherwise than in a
spirit - like (dynamic) way, and in like manner, all
such morbid derangements
(diseases) cannot be removed from it by the physician
in any other way that
by the spirit - like (dynamic, virtual 9) alterative
powers of the
serviceable medicines acting upon our spirit - like
vital force, which
perceives them through the medium of the sentient
faculty of the nerves
everywhere present in the organism, so that it is only
by their dynamic
action on the vital force that remedies are able to re
- establish and do
actually re - establish health and vital harmony,
after the changes in health
of the patient cognizable by our senses (the totality
of the symptoms) have
revealed the disease to the carefully observing and
investigating physician
as fully as was requisite in order to enable him to
cure it."
From above parahgraph it very
clear that there is no place for crude drug
prescriptions ( MOTHER TINCTURES) in homoeopathic
medical proffession. The Similimum should be in
spirit- like dynamic form because vital force is
dynamic as well as disease influence is dynamic.

Right Similimum require depth knowledge of :-

1. EMBRIOLOGY
2. MIASMS
3. THE CASE TAKING (Which will include Observations
about Man's makeup-mental makeup, physical make up,
general make up)
4. Case analysis- Repertorzation
5. Posology
6. Materia Medica and Repertory Ruberics.
7. Follow up- most essential part of treatment.
8. How to handle difficulties and Obstacles

MIASMS:-
Aim of Man is survival-his own and
then his species. For this purpose he has:-

A. ORGANISATION. -------Defect in organisation results
into disturbed functions i.e.PSORA
B. REPRODUCTION.--------Defect in reproduction leads
into overgrowth or undergrowth. i.e. SYCOSIS.
C. DEFENCE.---------------- Defect in defence leads
into destruction i.e.SYPHLIS.

In other word man's three basic function for survival
are:
GENERATION------------G.
-------BRAHMA.
ORGANISATION---------O
--------VISHNU.
DEFENCE-----------------D
---------MAHESH.
To understand the miasms we
have to understand the universe. Universe is a bundle
of energy. Matter and energy is one and same thing.
Mass is nothing but energy frozen and energy is
nothing but boiled mass. Man is also a part of
universe so he should follow laws of energy ------
First Law of Thermodynamics states-"Energy can neither
be created nor destroyed. The some total of all the
energy in universe remains constant. Energy can only
be converted from one form to another. Second Law of
Thermodynamics states-" All systems in the universe
proceeds in that direction which leads to
disorderliness or randomness of system or degradation-
that is to add the increase of the entropy of the
universe in the given condition of temprature and
pressure.
-------This mean every system has to degrade to act a
fuel for future.
-------Every living / nonliving, active/inactive thing
whether it is plant, animal,
mineral, metal, has to degrade.
-------Every man has to to degrade till death. Man is
born to die by degradation.
Direction of degradation in natural healthy
state as well as in disease process is from:---
PSORA-->--SYCOSIS-->--SYPHLIS-------(------to be

Thanks a lot for oppening the disscosion of patient or disease again. Lets take another look at organon:
¤ 1

The physicians high and only mission is to restore the sick to health, to cure, as it is termed.

If the physician clearly perceives what is to be cured in diseases, that is to say, in every individual case of disease (knowledge of disease, indication), if he clearly perceives what is curative in medicines, that is to say, in each individual medicine (knowledge of medical powers), and if he knows how to adapt, according to clearly defined principles, what is curative in medicines to what he has discovered to be undoubtedly morbid in the patient, so that the recovery must ensue - to adapt it, as well in respect to the suitability of the medicine most appropriate according to its mode of action to the case before him (choice of the remedy, the medicine indicated), as also in respect to the exact mode of preparation and quantity of it required (proper dose), and the proper period for repeating the dose; - if, finally, he knows the obstacles to recovery in each case and is aware how to remove them, so that the restoration may be permanent, then he understands how to treat judiciously and rationally, and he is a true practitioner of the healing art .

As it is now no longer a matter of doubt that the diseases of mankind consist merely of groups of certain symptoms, and may be annihilated and transformed into health by medicinal substances, but only by such as are capable of artificially producing similar morbid symptoms (and such is the process in all genuine cures), hence the operation of curing is comprised in the three following points:

I. How is the physician to ascertain what is necessary to be known in order to cure the disease?

II. How is he to gain a knowledge of the instruments adapted for the cure of the natural disease, the pathogenetic powers of the medicines?

III. What is the most suitable method of employing these artificial morbific agents (medicines) for the cure of natural disease?
Considering these aphorisms to restore the sick to health a real homoeopath should know the disease, should eradicate the disease. The point is here DISEASE is meaning something different from DISEASE in allopathy. Here we need to know the disease in its totality. So although allopaths calls every case of gastric troubles with inflamation a case of GASTRITIS DISEASE we name it only a symptom. We need to know the disease of patient in its totality. I think we only need to emphasise that our difinition of disease is different from allopaths .
