Invitation to Volunteer in Kenya

To: Homeopaths & senior homeopathic students

Abha Light is a unique programme popularising homeopathy and other alternative medicine in East Africa. Since there is practically no homeopathy (except among the self-contained upper classes) in Kenya/East Africa, that means building an infrastructure from A-Z.

Training, helping those trained in opening new clinics, popularisation & service through mobile clinics, developing the pharmacy, etc are the main areas of focus.

Abha Light is inviting YOU to come to Kenya for 2-6 months and lend a hand in this remarkable work.

True, people can volunteer for 4-6 weeks, but the impact is not quite as effective since it takes 2+ weeks just to adapt to conditions. Still if someone wants to make a short visit, we don't turn away anyone.

Who do we need?
Every year the ALF project matures and its needs grow and change along with it. In 2005 we need help in:

Training
Someone who likes to focus on teaching homeopathy / medical sciences for 2-6 months. In 2005 we will have two classes of students. A hand is needed as we still don't have the qualified personnel to handle that much work.

(Even those who come for other reasons are welcome to teach a few classes in any case.)

While ALF is still not finanacially solvent to pay anyone in full, we can give some bare bones (verrrrry! bare) support to anyone who wants to come for an extended period and focus on developing the training programme into a full-fledged college. (You would still be bearing many costs. This is NOT a "job" in the ordinary sense. ALF is not looking for jobseekers, but volunteers)

ALF doesn't need great professorial erudite scholars (tho they are welcome too!) Anyone who has a penchant for teaching, knows more than the students & wants to pioneer in a fledgling college is welcome.

Mobile Clinics
These serve multiple purposes - mobile clinics
(a) are the training ground for supervised clinical experience of the students.
(b) give YOU a chance to do service to suffering & impoverished humanity & see how homeopathy works in these conditions.
(c) establish the ground for a future student to take it over as their own clinic

Permanent Clinics
This is real pioneer work - to set out somewhere & help particular new clinic get on it's feet with the new, still-inexperienced grad. These could be anywhere in Kenya or Uganda, village or urban area.

Since teaching is not full time, there is opportunity to do mobile clinics or other work. - or vice-versa. One can do mobile clinics and still assist a bit in teaching.
