programme on MMR

For British viewers Channel 4 are tx a programme about the MMR vaccine on
Thursday 18th November 9pm. It is a 'Dispatches' current affairs programme
and they can be a bit hit and miss sometimes but overall the idea behind the
programme is a 'reveal' all type intention.

"In 1998 Dr Andrew Wakefield claimed to have identified a possible link
between the MMR vaccine and autism in children. These events engendered a
global health scare but what was going on behind the scenes? Brian Deer
exposes the vital facts that parents were not told at the time."

The programme might only tell us what we all know already and I have no idea
how the 'message' will be presented but it might be interesting and at least
will have a public arena.

But Sheri, it is very tantalizing to say that something is going to be bad
but not say why.

Is it something to do with Wakefield's conflict of interest (working on
evidence to support legal action by parents) or any of the other allegations
made by the Lancet - if so it might be obvious to the reasonably intelligent
to see that the Lancet are the 'bad boys' in all this.

And it is a lesson, when trying to expose the bad things in life, that you
go forward with a squeaky clean reputation, cos there is always someone out
there who will tarnish it. Wakefield should have boxed a bit cleverer if
these allegations actually end up turning facts into fiction.

Sheri - what I need to know is do I recommend that patients watch it ? I have a family (chickenpox/eczema child) where Mum doesn't want him to be vaccinated and Dad is insisting so before I recommend they watch it I need to know this information if you have inside knowledge. Thanks

See if it a similar story. If so is it duplicatre and if not why are they
putting out the info in similar ways in Europe and the USA? Just the lawsuit or
deeper reasons? Just what is in the vaccinations anyway.
