Miasms - Remedy Selection

Post by Soroush Ebrahimi »

Dear Colleagues

Let us assume you have taken the patient's case and in the process you have
decided that one of the miasms is active.

How does this affect your choice of remedy?

Please try and answer this post as I am trying to establish the actual range
of practice with regard to miasms.

What do you mean by 'the range of practice'?

You have to keep an open mind because if you decide on the wrong miasm then
you decide on the wrong remedy - likewise when deciding too early what so
called 'kingdom' a case is likely to fall within.

Personally I don't think it is an essential part of case taking to decide on
what miasm is active but it can both help and hinder. At the end of the day
the remedy has to fit the case first and foremost.

Hi Soroush
It all depends on what U want to do ,If U want to palliate only ,MIASM need not be taken seriously. If U want to cure and provided case is curable ,in evaluation of symptoms miasm comes on top .U have to select the remedy which covers the miasmatic aspect also.

Hi Soroush,

My own understanding is that you want a remedy that shares the same basic
processes as are evident in the case, and that "same miasm" is simply a
shorthand way of saying and verifying that. In other words, you want to
match not *only* the specific "target" symptoms, but also the underlying/
overarching character of the case and of the remedy.

hi shannon,

i din't understand what souroush is talking abt.

what i have been tought is that whatever miasm is active or is on the surface has to be treated first, like if psora and syphilis r present in a patient and syphilis is active we must first administer an anti syphilitic drug that means that psora is dormant but if psora symptoms are predominant then only choose an antipsoric drug and then go for antisyphilitic drug. am i right?

regards

raji.

Hi Raji,

My understanding is the same as yours, that you treat only the *active*
miasm(s). Of course many remedies can treat more than one miasm, and a case
may have more than one miasm active at the same time too. I think that
Soroush is coming from the same perspective, but is just wondering to what
extent various of us actually take that into account in remedy choice?
