Gollum's penance came about because he went that little bit too far with his
greed for the ring but this has to be linked in with his designated bodily
form, a kind of 'lowlife' state. He was given this because the higher powers
did not think him worthy enough to take possession of the ring because he
had no idea about how to use that power appropriately. He did want to find a
way of reverting, hence his ability to be both good and bad or worthless.
The rubric 'greed' would be appropriate rather than the loquacity or
jealousy that rules Lachesis (but I can also see your thinking here - he is
quite snake like), he didn't now how to use the power if he had obtained the
ring, it was purely an inquisitive greed which took him down that route.
He eats only raw fish?? Can't remember now. Is always naked. Seems to be
sneaky and not to be trusted (this is sycotic but not exclusively so),
dualistic and often caught talking to the other self, jealousy does come
into it etc.
There is a lovely little sub rubric under 'greed' = 'cupidity, grasping
greedily with both hands anything offered to him' - Hyos is there and I
quite like the idea of Hyos for the Gollum - a diabolical force which seems
to take possession (as the MM's say).
I look forward to reading what Liz 'wants to run by us'.

Hi Joy
I too often try and match fictional characters to remedies - it is great
fun.
Good luck with these and if you can list the rubrics too, it will be a good
teaching aide.
What about Lach for Gollum? (I wants ittttttttttttttttttttt)
Best wishes
Soroush
