Hi there,
I'm not sure if this is the right forum to ask this question. I'm
asking for a friend of mine. So I'm not looking for a treatment plan
but just the answer to the question.
Is there a cure in homeopathy for lifelong most likely genetic
depression? The parents and most relatives of this person are either
alcoholics or suffer from depression. One known suicide.
My friend is getting desperate and is looking for a last resort.
thanks christa

Re: lifelong hereditary depression
Hi Christa,
In context of homeopathy, "genetic" translates to "miasmatic" -- and yes,
there certainly is! Not everything can be cured, but s/he would almost
certainly be helped greatly by constitutional care.
The other approach s/he should take in the meantime is learning his/her
particular biochemical needs. A person who is chronically unwell can be
*hugely* helped by determining what nutrients they have a greater need for,
and/or what foods and other substances they may be intolerant to, and
adjusting the diet, activity, and supplement plan accordingly. E.g. chronic
depression brings to mind likely allergies, probable high need for magnesium
and/or protein and/or digestive enzymes and/or essential fatty acids -- and
there are many other possibilities.
Once the needed constitutional remedy is given, the whole things becomes
*hugely* easier, as some of the high nutrient needs will normalize, some of
the oversensitivities will become less, and overall resilience will become
more. But for someone with severe inborn imbalance (aka "miasmatic
weakness"), these are tools that might continue to be important right along
with excellent homeopathic care; and in absence of excellent homeopathic
care might make the difference between functioning okay, and not functioning
much at all.
Do you know whether they've explored this angle?

Thanks for your reply Shannon,
she did a lot of experimenting with food, vitamins, fishoil and
amino acids. Changing to healthy food and vitamins did help some but
she still gets very suicidial on a regular basis.
thanks again christa

Yes homeopathy could cure.. such a cure would be individually
ascertained, according to the details of the individual case.
