I am not here to defend what I do. However just so you know, because you obviously don't know me, I am one of the leading veterinarians in NYC who discourage all the clients I see from getting their animals vaccinated unless absolutely necessary (only rabies 3 years for dogs --after the first year--is the only vaccine I advise them to get. And even there, if the animal has any serious disease I postpone giving it for as long as possible.).
Everything else I do titers or don't do at all. I discourage all vaccines for indoor cats. And only Rabies on outdoor cats as well as Felv. For any animals that have any illness what so ever I discontinue all vaccines.
Since I have a NYS vet license I must protect myself. I also don't have the luxury of only working for myself. When I do per diem I see a very varied array of clients, many of whom prefer to do it "the old fashioned way".
I always talk to my clients about healthier diets including raw diets.
I stand by everything else I said about heartworm disease and treatment.

You know, Jill; it's a darn shame you can't express your principles
more fully where you are working. Do you ever dream of setting up on
your own, where you could teach true health and treatment? With all the
respect you seem to generate, you could do a world of good, instead of
just placating your old-fashioned clients and bosses. Others have dome
it, you know - Dr. Stephen Blake comes readily to mind, and Goldstein,
of course.
Or could I have possibly been mistaken? You couldn't really believe
these things are ok to do, could you? Is the health of the animals not
worth a little more effort to educate the clients? Can you not be
passionate about ending the abuse and overdrugging? Well, it's a
learning curve, and you'll still young enough to change, I guess. I
hope for your sake it happens soon; it's no fun being a hypocrite.
