Dear Minuts members,
the question was which materia medica I would recommend.
Well, my favorite one is: Mohinder Singh Jus, /Praktische Materia Medica, /3 vol. (Homöosana: Zug, 2003)
It is a MM of over 300 of the most important remedies, the information is well organized in two color print, in the usual head to foot schema.
Very handy for the learner are the comparisons between different remedies in tabellas. Useful for the practitioner are the rubrics on epilepsy which form an extra paragraph between mind and head symptoms. Indispensable to me are the cross-references to other remedies at every symptom mentioned and of course, the paragraph on relations at the end of each remedy described; there you find precise information which remedy is an antidote to it and which remedy is antidoted by it, inimical remedies and complements, remedies that might follow and might be followed.
What I like best is the vivid language, the graphic description with well placed, condensed and concise examples gained from many years of experience. The supplement is a short repertory referring to remedies in the MM, whose best chapter, imho, is that on causation. It is a good starting point for the beginner, of course, it does not want to replace thorough repertorization with the other repertories.
The author Dr. Mohinder Jus Singh is a homeopath of great renown, teaching and practicing in Switzerland. His teacher was the great Indian homeopath Dr. B. K. Bose, the last disciple of James Tyler Kent.
There is only one drawback: /Praktische Materia Medica/ is written in German, thus an English translation would be a desideratum.
All of you with a reading knowledge of German could have a look at www.homoeosana.ch or www.shi.ch
Yours sincerely
Claudia Mennel
