This family, very dear to me, whom I often help over phone, have had a sore
throat going round. Lycopodium ,self prescribed as it was R sided and
started after 4.0pm, helped Mother but I think she repeated too often and
last night I advised Nux 30 which helped. Her husband was very irritable
and was starting to get sore throat too. He was intolerant of the pain. We
did discuss Crotalus horridus as it once cleared a badly infected great toe
but as irritability biggest thing thought would use a Nux 30c too. Through
the night became increasingly uncomfortable and went to Casualty and this am
I heard he was a mystery ,ill and throat very swollen.,there was a lot of
hurry and stress but got modality unable to swallow Just now I have heard
he has been taken to theatre and having a tracheostomy.
I feel Crotalus is perhaps best indicated and may be useful even after
surgery which I am praying hard he comes through. ?/Naja but the swelling
around neck more in Crotalus. That was not there last night.
Any thoughts. I can not get to the hospital to see him. Jean

If his is right sided also I would be looking at Phytolacca (keeps coming up
recently) - great affinity to the throat, right sided, and also cannot
swallow anything even water. I would check to see if this fits as well as
some of the snake rx.

But is the constriction due to paralysis, swelling, or ?

Keep in mind Apis, Belladonna and hepar as well.

Although I do not have a repertory at hand right now, I suppose the remedy
would have been, probably, Apis in a high potency.
Lycopodium is no acute remedy but a long-range polychrest with a very broad
spectrum of symptoms and actions, having, as is the case with these
polychrests, quite often another 1 or 2 more superficial remedies positioned as a prelude.

This case of Epiglottitis most strange. I did not hear any history of
cough or stridor only of extreme pain and swelling in throat. Which
developed overnight. I do not think it was paralysis {? Naja] Fever was not
an issue last evening when the throat discomfort was only just starting.
Last night it was agreed that they drive out here to see me this am ,but
went to Casualty at 6.0am. Fortunately an ENT surgeon happened to see him
[after I posted my request for help] as there was indecision what to do and
must have recognized what was happening. Apparently they sit leaning forward
with a most anxious expression.
Thank you Joy Robyn Hahnemannian and Vioral for suggestions. I tend to
think of Apis [swelling] ,[Lack of thirst or amelioration from cold drinks
did not come up] Yes, Phytolacca as it is current, and the Crotalus
Horridus which helped so much on a previous occasion. I have advised giving
this if possible. It would have been useful to see him but think of the
emergency if one had not prescribed correctly./// Presently I believe he is
to be kept intubated and sedated for several days and then I am if allowed
his state will require exploring in depth . ?/the remedies mentioned or
Phosphorus or Lyssin [doubtful about this one] . One of the children are
Phosphorus. It is very rare for this to occur in an adult. Thank you,

I have used medorrhinum 200 x 3 doses 10 minutes apart in a very severe case
of stridor (child hospitalized) when nothing else worked
R. Dyspnoea cannot exhale
R. oppression of breathing
R. Larynx feels sore.
