Dear Colleagues and Students,
I have been emphasizing the importance of Boenninghausen's works for
many, many years but I find the new round of "Kent bashing" by some
Boenninghausen enthusiast a bit excessive. I have had the pleasure of
discussing Kent's Repertory with Edouard Broussalian MD, whose father is an
MD homoeopath who studied with P. Schmidt. Both Ed and his father
translated Kent's Repertory into French and they know its construction much
better than most. Ed is quite an expert on this work.
I have had long discussions about make up and sources of Kent's
Repertory with him. There is much more to the story than is expounded by
the newly converted Boeninghausenians Yes, there may be some mistakes but
the over body of the work is one of the most proven and well used
repertories on the planet. It has cured a multitude of cases over the last
100 or so years. I just do not want to be drawn into the "for or against
mentality" on this subject. There are cases that suit Kent's better than
the Boenninghausen's and vice versa. I believe in both and don't forget
Knerr's Repertory of the Guiding Symptoms! Roger Zandvoot wrote:
"Ortega's group in Mexico did an extensive study on cured cases. They
both Boenninghausen's and Kent's approach on each case. They worked with
the original Boenninghausen method and remedies. They found that in the
majority of cases, both methods worked. You could find the remedy equally
well with either way. But in the remaining cases, they found that Kent's
worked better in 50% of the time, and the other 50% it was
Boenninghausen's." (Bringing Back the Baron by Wendy Howard.)
I believe the above study is closer to the truth than all the divisive
criticisms going in various directions.
Sincerely, David Little
