Voice- thanks

Post by Ffinnie »

Dear Jean, Andy, et al
Thanks for helping -a fuller picture: what happened in lead up:
Dec/Jan - lots of stress at work and some feeling I'm not up to the job (I
hadn't taken that into account - mmm)
Jan - early Jan - sudden sinus pain, bursting pain, better pressure, better
copious cold drinks, most pain over left cheek bone, no coryza. Response to
bryonia(one dose 30c) immediate. I'm used to bouncing straight back from things.
Mid January - throat a bit rough -I ignored it, even sang.It got
better.(appeared to)
Tickly cough worse night better cold drinks throughout above. Snore a lot and
I'm overweight, so my own fault.

End Jan, 30th - couldn't drink -drinks make me choke and cough when they hit
back of throat. No sore throat.
1st Feb, no voice suddenly hoarse and low, and couldn't make a whole
sentence. First rehearsal of opera group that night-nothing there, couldn't join in.
Still can't 5 weeks later.
Nothing to see behind throat-little inflammation to see, some glands a little
hard under chin.
Kept going to work, kept talking — very hoarse. No pain. Thought voice
overworked. 2 weeks off-didn't help. Stressed about work throughout (get a bit wound
up). Voice not better steam. Not better hot drinks. Better cold drinks but
have to drink carefully. Much better fresh air (generally, voice doesn't come
back). It's cold outside (around zero or a bit above) I feel cold hands and feet
only when inside, then overheat the place and go bright red.… Like cold (from
fridge) water, sparkling, esp raspberry flavoured (don't have sweet tooth
usually)
Voice better for rest — but it's someone else's voice! Low - I'm soprano
normally. Still can't sing. When it gets tired or I try to speak up it burbles —
not a dry crackle, not a whisper. Feel like my real voice is missing, or
clamped up - I can't reach it.
Cough almost gone when voice was totally gone — now cough worse and pains on
coughing down left side (as if in breast).

999'd on other subject (weepy — irrational — very temporary) I get digest —
replied right away - it took 3-4 days to appear on digest again - way too late
for discussion -you have to be quick around here!

I need to find a local homeopath - classical bent - who practices on my day
off!

Thanks everyone
Fiona

Dear Fiona,
Pleased to meet you. My email to your private address was returned. Best
is to see local homeopath for full in depth workup lifelong. Otherwise
you might also take a look at the mm (hope you have some books) of
Argentum nitricum to see if it fits.

Also, bryonia (which worked for a while) is the acute analogue of natrum
mur. Also, Rhus tox (common in lost voice from overuse) is the acute
analog of Calc-carb. Otherwise, if you have some training, check out
the other rx in (esp the singer) rubric.
Best,
Andy
