One useful remedy is Colchicum. I use it in 30c. 3 times fairly quickly
then reducing if helps to only as needed . Ledum often helpful as is
Urtica Urens.
As the pain moves around Kali Bic,??,Pulsatilla, whatever is
constitutionally suitable.
Good Luck Jean

Re: Gout
Dear ALL
I Agree that Colchicum 30 c effective.frequently then tailing off.. has been good in my limited experience. What I have not been able to do is to follow up urate levels in those who require allopathic medication to prevent frequent attacks as increased urate levels even without joint pain can cause kidney stones and destroy renal function. Am waiting for the right patient though!
Regards

Re: Gout
Colchicum and ledum do help, but along with the constitutional. I have recorded lab values of serum uric acid decreasing in say about three months. One is a lyco patinet and other is a sepia.
Diet also should be advised along with this.

Re: Gout
Hi, Jeremy
Sorry to be so long in replying, but my computer died and it took awhile to get back on the Internet. (I won’t even go into the continuing horror story concerning the transfer of repertorization software, but it’s going into my periodically updated “Annals of Computer Madness.”)
At any rate, my gout patient turned out to need none of the traditional gout remedies. She was a clear Hepar sulph. case, and gout was not the greatest of her problems. Just goes to show that you cannot rely too much on disease rubrics. In a tribute to the late, great Ananda Zaren, a friend wrote that Zaren cured a man of severe restless leg syndrome after he had, literally, been given every remedy in the restless legs rubric without effect. The man’s case was so extreme that he could not sleep lying down but had to construct a special frame for himself so he could sleep upright at night. The remedy? Belladonna. Zaren didn’t think this was a simple case of restless legs; she deduced that his perpetual motion was an effort to escape (I don’t know from what).
Peace,
Dale

I find Urtica 30 is often a good acute remedy in humans where the patient does not have the characteristic > cold of ledum and nothing else seems particularly indicated.
Thanks, Jeremy. Interestingly enough, I have a patient coming in today for gout, and I'll be sure to keep Urtica in mind. (Wonder if humans could similarly be affected by too much nettles tea?)
