Re: lazy eye
Dear Margaret,
"Lazy eye" is usually called Amblyopia.
There is also the rubric Looking steadily, one eye only which might describe your situation?
Kind regards,
Jon van Hoffen

The word you're looking for is ambylopia. RADAR lists 37 remedies for this
condition.

Re: lazy eye
Dear Margaret
While treating lazy eye homeopathically you might consider giving eye
exercises from Bates "Better Eyesight without Glasses".
They are simple:
without moving the head
* look up and down (5 x)
* look side to side
* diagonal upper-left to lower-right
* diagonal upper-right to lower-left
* circles ("round the clock") in both directions
* then holding the index finger outstretched, focus on the tip of the
finger as you move it towards your nose. out-in and in-out.
Do all this starting 5x each . after some days work your way up to 10 or 20
times each.
At the end of the exercises "palm" the eyes covering them with your palms
and totally relaxing them in complete darkness 2- 20 minutes (don't sleep!)
During "palming" one attempts to "see" total black without any shooting
stars, flashing colours etc. Seeing total black indicates total relaxation
of the eyes.
the exercises strengthen the eye muscles. The "palming" totally relaxes the
exercised muscles thus enabling them to re-align & correct themselves.
there are more exercises in Bates book, but these are the main ones.
Sincerely,
Didi Ananda Ruchira

Re: lazy eye
Hi Ramachandra,
I'm curious whether there are other changes in the child along with
improvement in the eye? Are there clues besides the progress of the eye
that you have used in deciding how often the remedy needs to be repeated,
or is this his only symptom?
Thankyou!

Re: lazy eye
Shannon,
I generally prescribe Carcinosin on basis of Family H/O Diabetes.M
,Tuberculosis,or Cancer. Or basis of miasmic graft .I am unable to find
right Simillimum in cases of many congenital eye problems .Lazy Eye is one
of them.This boy along with Lazy eye has mild ADHD.He is intelligent but
can not sit in one place,difficult child to manage stubborn.He has
bilateral Enlarged Tonsils.
I , Emperically repeat once in 1 month.One day Carc 200,2nd day Carcinosin
1M.In congenital complaints it is difficult to observe any improvement with
1st prescription itself.Real change started after repeating 3rd time.Now
not only his eye is improving ,he is better mentally and tonsils regressing.
I have also helped another boy of Congenital NASTYGMUS (Eye ball keeps on
turning with disturbance in viewing capacity}.He had tried varietis of
Homoeopathic treatment after Allopathy lifted its hands with out any
benefit.His Grand parents both side were DM.Carcinosin repeated like above
fixed the Eye ball to normalcy withNormal vision.He has restarted his
Schooling which was stopped earlier.
With Good Wishes

Re: lazy eye
Thanks Ramachandra,
This is very thought-provoking... I would have been nervous to give
especially any nosode that frequently, but I guess results are the bottom
line. Have you ever seen aggravation result from this approach, or is it
only this sort of (nearly) "fixed" condition you would use it for, or can
you share any more about the method? The only method I was taught for using
nosodes (or any remedy) was to give a single dose (if high potency), and if
no result after 4-6 weeks, look for a different remedy. I do understand
that sometimes another approach may be better, but I don't understand what
the guidelines are. Maybe this is a question that can't be answered simply,
but I appreciate whatever you can share about it.
Thanks,
Shannon
