Dear All,
I had a child in today who has CP and pre pubescent syndrome as I called it. I have permission to post her case.
She is 3 this month and presents as a plump child held by mother like a baby. She can not sit up or stand. If her head goes back too much her 2 hands come up . I didn't actually see this. She lay with her eyes half closed and I thought she might be asleep but Mum said she was awake but didn't wish to respond probably because she had a busy day yesterday and is tired today. When I could see her eyes, they rolled upwards. At no time did she look directly at anything. Mum says the visual impairment is within the brain and is like a TV which sometimes has good or bad reception. She constantly makes sucking motions with her mouth which I could not find the rubric for. At the moment she has a chest infection from a cold- breathing was very noisy - which is being treated by antibiotics- but she is normally no more alert than today. She is beginning to get teeth and has 1 top tooth out. Muscle tone is variable. Her arms and legs felt flabby to me and non responsive. She didn't react to a torch light on her eyes. If put to stand her legs will give way. She can weight bear in a standing frame when leaning forward.
She has a very small head which I would not have noticed if Mum hadn't said because her plump face is surrounded with a mass of wavy , thick, long healthy looking hair which was dark at the roots and blond on the outside. Her forehead is narrow and bulges slightly at the front. She has cranial sacrum treatment and is very relaxed and sleeps during this but has been seen to react when the therapists hands are at the temples although doesn't seem sensitive there if Mum touches her there.
Food - she eats what the family eat. They are "vegetarians" who eat fish. The food is blended for the child because of her lack of teeth. Since bronchiolitis at age 2 - a year ago - she only drinks thickened liquids to help her swallow. She never refuses a thickened drink. During the bronchiolitis Mum thinks the nurses tried to feed her water and it went down the wrong way and therefore she may have "aspiration" sic . I think Mum means a liability for the liquid to go down the lungs because the swallowing reflex isn't good with liquid. She gets wind which doesn't appear to be painful but Mum can tell when she has it. She prefers savoury to sweet things and her food and drink must be warm. She loves butter, watery veg but not sticky veg like baked beans. She hates garlic and will eat curry!! She eats well.
The bronchiolitis left her with a vulnerability to chest infections. She has had a Hip operation as a baby because the joints were so loose and was a in plaster for 3 months.
Some days she does look around a lot but this makes her tired. She reacts more in the morning. Mum says that she can laugh and smiles when tickled. She can cough and there is a clear white sticky mass which may appear. When ill it maybe frothy and green. Mum says she shows when she is happy and only cries when hurt (her sister 12 months younger accidentally poking her) or sometimes if bored.
Pregnancy (Mum's first) was fine but slight HBP toward the end as she was overdue and a decision was made to induce at 41 weeks. She was given in all 6 pessaries and then they broke the waters. Mum was then overdosed on oxytocin(?) which over stimulated the uterus which prolonged the contractions and the baby was deprived of oxygen. The baby had a fit when born and was put onto phenobarbitone for 6 courses(?). The baby was fed from expressed breast milk into a tube which ran into her stomach for 4 weeks and then put on formula milk again into her stomach. Am not sure when she started feeding from a bottle in her mouth but will ask!!
She sleeps in a special harness with 2 cushions.
The child is not clingy . She can be left in a room on her own and will go to anyone. Mum thinks she gets upset if not held correctly. She lay in my arms and went to sleep. Mum think the child recognises her and her father.
Temperature - Mum says that she doesn't like the cold and appears fine in the heat. her hands were warm to touch but her legs under her trousers felt cold.
I think she is short for her age.
Mum thinks that she prefers it when it is light and doesn't sleep in a very darkened room but has moving lights to stimulate her.
If distressed she breathes very fast.
Mum says there are breast buds and pubic hair. The doctor says that the uterus is enlarged and menses may appear soon.
I asked if the Pituitary gland had been checked for a tumour. An MRI scan was tried but she moved. The doctors then said it was unlikely and that is how it has been left!! It is not unusual for this to occur with CP.
She is on no medication except the antibiotics at the moment. She had steroids last year when the doctors thought she had asthma which turned out to be the bronchiolitis which is only usually seen in babies not infants of age 2.
A couple of weeks ago she didn't like her legs and bottom exposed by the fire (!!) when her nappy was off . She was happier when the nappy was back on.
She salivates a lot,(I didn't see this) more during her physiotherapy treatments and when she is concentrating. It could be teething. Apparently she will move a leg in response to the physiotherapist coaxing her to. Her hearing seems fine.
Stool - loose because of the "thick and easy" that is put into her drinks. Before this she tended towards constipation.
If she is moved around too quickly she appears dizzy.
Her best time of day is in the morning when she is more alert and if she sleeps in the afternoon she can also be more alert in the evening. She came to me in the afternoon so I am going to see her in her house tomorrow morning before her cranial therapist comes. Mum says she can look and react with people. This was not what I saw this afternoon and is why I want to see her at her best.
She has been given all her vaccinations!
That is the case. I see possibly Bar Carb BUT there don't seem to be the fears. I am also thinking of looking at Hellebores or even Opium. However it is the precocious puberty that mum wants dealt with if possible.
I look forward to your comments and suggestions of remedies to study. I want to wait until the child has finished the antibiotics anyway before prescribing.
Regards,
Rochelle

Why Bar Carb? Bar Carb is more prominent when we have clear mental symptoms (such as of old people or kids in study) NOT brain or neurological symptoms or CNS etc. Why did not you think of Anacar Or if you thought of Bar Carb. Opium, was the baby terrified or you are thinking more mechanical like an allopath. Hellebores is when you have deep depression or when you have coma. Horomones then think of Conium. I would love to take you in my studenthood 'how to take a case'. I donot mean to scold you but I would like you to take this case as a chellange and cure it and I believe you can do that. My suggestion is Give Tub 200C one dose twice a week for 4 weeks (a total of 8 doses). Then start the baby on Calc Carb 30C morning early before eating anything and at bedtime. Also 3 times a week Ceanothus MT 5 drops at noon time after eating. Reprot back after two months the start of Cal Carb.

Re: Child with precocious puberty
Bar. Carb because of lack of development
Opium - lack of reaction
Hell- lack of reaction
These were my initial thoughts.
I would love your thoughts on how I could have taken this case any better than I did. I was observing what I could which is the reason why I am going to her house this morning for more observation.
Why Tub???
Calc makes more sense to me.
However with the best will in the world I don't think we would be able to cure a brain damaged child. However the primary aim at this moment is to stop the puberty and reverse this if possible. I would like your thoughts on this.

Re: Child with precocious puberty
I have to agree that I thought of this because of the way she is breathing with this chest infection. However Mum said the noise was not from the chest but more from the throat as although if it was us and had all that mucus there we would cough it up but it doesn't appear to annoy her. When she does cough it goes? Where you thinking of this as a constitutional remedy?
I will send more on this case when I return from her home this morning.

Hi Nanga Pir,
At risk of asking a stupid question, can you explain why you recommend to
start with Tub?
Thanks,
Shannon

Re: Child with precocious puberty
Like others I am struggling with your choice of Tub to start as for
me the Calc Carb is the picture. However the child was born with
life threatening illness, please can you explain the treating of the
miasm over the case first rather than the presenting picture and then
the miasm as I would have chosen,
thank you for your teaching
