Dear Rajiv, one other remedy that might be worth looking at, as I am not
sure if it has been mentioned as I haven't read all the posts, and that is
COCA - the remedy that Sankaran calls 'the isolated genius'.
This remedy 'reaches for the sky' due to a fear of letting things fall. They
elevate themselves to a high position because they have been deeply forsaken
in the past. The world represents a threat to them so they need security but
they feel they are alone. They are great intellectuals, have great abundance
of ideas and clarity of mind. Have beautiful delusions, everything looks
wonderful (even his messy room, like sulphur).
It has ailments from salt food!! And part of the cocaine habit to pick at
the powder and put on the tongue like he was eating the salt - is
interesting.
I would certainly consider this remedy.

I have taken some time to respond to all the ideas
about the interesting case as there were so many
suggestions and all of them so valuable. I have tried
to go through all of them and absorb the pros and cons
of each one of the remedies suggested before
responding. Here is my response.
First of all, indeed this person looks strongly psoric
and hence Sulphur is a strong possibility. But my
sense is that here it is not a case of plain and
simple psora but probably a mixed miasm. Definitely
psora plus syphillis and may be a wee bit of psychosis
too.As i had mentioned, he is a late night person.
Normally sleeps at 3-4 in the morning and gets up at
around 11. In fact he appears to be bit tubercular to
me.There is a family history of eccentricity and pure
mental ability. As i had mentioned earlier all three
sisters were exceptionally bright students and father
was a top tenner all over India in the Civil Services
exams. One of the sisters has had an attack of acute
depression which i had successfully treated with
Anacardium. Father has adjustment problems with family
members. In fact at the dinner table he bangs the tea
mug twice to demand his meals from his mom. Her Mom
has always disliked this but could never tell him
anything in their over 35 years of marriage!! Just
because Dad is a terror in the family because of his
short temper.
Lachesis also can be useful at some stage. I would be
interested in knowing more Materia Medica about Coca
which Joy suggested. It sounds an interesting
possibility and may suit our friend. I can still take
a week or so before prescribing. Looking forward to
hearing from you all.
