Digest Number 1228- PCOS

Post by Barbara * »

Dear Suriya,

Thanks for this - I've also tried Thyroidinum, Folliculinum and Oophorinum
(along with the presenting remedy picture), but I'm unable to say whether it
was successful, as a further diagnostic test has not been sought (but the
hirsutism persists, which raises doubt). However, I'm sure if we all share
our
experiences, we can get some idea of what methodology(ies) works - even just
some of the time! Already Joy has shown that prescribing for the presenting
picture or 'constitutional' - and the case from Lynn (thank you Lynn!) -
underlines how the patient's medical history (ovarian focus) + exciting
cause(s) can
point us in the right direction. It was always thus ! I too have usually
found an emotional causation together with a 'weakness' in this area -
perhaps it could
be on the increase indeed because women are becoming the 'new men' according
to some pundits (strangely, mostly male!) ? ;-) There is a lot of
pressure on
women nowadays, and more and more are divorced, separated and
career-orientated, so its perhaps not too surprising PCOS is on the rise
when you consider
the change of hormonal pattern that previous generations might not have
encountered. Just my thoughts on my cases to date anyway ...

The database - not sure how we go about this... Any ideas as to the outline
most welcome! (For instance, we would need separate sections for
pre-menopausal, menopausal and post-menopausal women, as amenorrhea and
sterility in the latter two categories is not an issue). It would certainly
help
us all if we can share our experiences to date. I have a mother and
daughter with the condition and certainly 'grief' seems to play a big part,
but I'm also
looking at "mortified" remedies like Staphisagria, Sepia (+ Foll., etc.,
etc.).

If I get time, I'll try and outline the NBWS for my cases, and hope that
others can do so too.

Best wishes,
Barbara

Dear Barbara

Among the remedies I have tried are the sarcodes including , hypophysin
( pit gld), thyroidinum, and oophorinum as well as the remedies that are
constitutional to their cases..among these Sepia seems to fit the
picture well and Graphite.

I think the idea of a database is good, if people can come up with the
remdies that worked in their cured cases and the sx that called for
those remedies, we could probably compile a database . Also, if we could
just know what kind of foods they ate, their lifestyle then we d have a
clue as to what seems to trigger these cases. They are most definitely
on the rise!

Re hirsuitism
P. Banerji has had success treating this with Aurum met 200 every three
days
Sepia 200 has also been helpful
He has experimented also with Catharanthus 6 and found it to act
successfully in
some cases

He has also had success with amenorrhea using Aurum met 200 as well as
the
accumulation of abdominal fat accompanying sterility in females

Re Sterility/amenorrhea
He has also done trials with Aurum mur nat 4x where there is no obvious
reason
for it - I suppose presuming ovarian hypofunction for unknown reason

Hi Robyn

Thanks for the therapeutic angle; not sure I'm clear about that one, and
would only prescribe on an Aurum indication being present I think...
And I can only find this on Catharanthus:

Family: Catharanthus roseus G. Don Apocynaceae
Kemunting cina
Active Ingredients: Indole alkaloids, akuaniidine, vinblastine,
vincristine, vindolinine, vincamajine, venalstonine, tabersonine and
vincubine.
General - Diabetes, anti-cancer effects.
Female - Dysmenorrhoea.
Heart - Hypertension.

Aur-m-n is an interesting thought tho'. Thanks. Although to date I have
found any hypofunction seems to be due to either some toxicity or one or
more
emotional events.

Best wishes,
Barbara
