I have had a problem with an upper right molar for quite some years. I
had a dentist who insisted on doing a root canal despite my protests,
but the infection never cleared so eventually even he advised getting
the tooth pulled, which is what I wanted to do in the first place, and
so I did. However, I still had difficulty with TMJ whenever the
infection got bad (characterized by a dull ache in the molar area, a
fatigued jaw and/or a rightsided headache for no other descernible
reason.) To me, I feel that it is a deep-seated infection in the
bone, since the tooth is gone. Thinking it may have been amalgam
poisoning, I have had all but two amalgam fillings removed (and I will
get those done as well.) This did allow my jaw to open 2.5
fingers'width, whereas before that, my jaw often would not open more
than 1 finger's width.
I have experimented with quite a few remedies in various potencies.
The most efficacious has been Fluoric Acidum in 30 and 200. This will
eliminate the dental headache in short order, however it has not
cured. I do not have any of the mind symptoms of Fl.Ac. I tried it
because it has an affinity for the upper right jaw, and indeed it
does. However, I would like some ideas on how I can make the effect
deeper and permanent -- in other words, what should I do to effect a
cure?

Re: Dental homeopathy
Since Fl Ac has come close but not healed, I would have a look at Calc
Fluor, a somewhat related remedy - it also has a fluoride component. I would
also have a look at Hecla Lava. I will send you materia medica on both
remedies privately.

Oh, I forgot to mention that they had no discernible effect.

Re: Dental homeopathy
Thank you for your response, Allen. I did try Calc Fluor as well, and
Hecla Lava, despite the fact that there is no swelling of the jaw (as
in Hecla Lava) nor nodosities or hard lumps (as in Calc Fl.)

Hi Alia,
Maybe another remedy toward "infection in the bone"?
Have you had a "constitutional" remedy that's worked well for you? If not,
that might be the best place to start; if so, it might be that combining
info on remedies related to that one, together with examining rubrics re
infection in the bone or bone inflammation, or such?

You will probably only attain a full cure if you apply a full case taking,
i.e. include the totality of the symptoms which may or may not go outside of
the symptoms pertaining to the teeth and jaw and headache, so that totality
might be quite small, all else being in a healthy state, although an ongoing
infection might suggest otherwise. Either way, you need far more details
here to find the simillimum, else you might end up just trying remedy after
remedy.
What characterises the infection, the pain and the headache, what are the
modalities etc? I think the stiffness of the jaw is interesting. Causticum,
for example, has rheumatism of the jaw and recurrent abscess of teeth and
head pain in right frontal eminence, and pain in teeth extending to head -
but is there anything else about this remedy which might fit the case.
Merc-c also has difficulty in opening the mouth, has a strong affinity to
infections of teeth and gums, so maybe this remedy is worth looking at also.
But definitely more details would be needed.

You could also look at Hekla Lava, which has particular affinity for jaw,
especially abcess or exostosis - not sure about the headache symptoms for it
though.
