Another forward from Elham, who is still unable to get to Minutus, for the
time being...
Dear friends,

I am not sure if any of you came up with some solutions. As for the time
being I am unable to get through to minutus. But if you did I am sure you
must have come up with some brilliant suggestions. The remedies I gave are
given below.

Remedies given : After the first consultation I gave Lac-can 1M mostly
because of the alternating appearance of symptoms. The medicine did not do
much. The second time I gave Puls 200. Mostly because of the dry mouth with
thirstlessness, the hot hands and feet and the shifting pains. It also has
weeping and shrieking with pains. The fever improved with this remedy but
now the picture was slightly different. There was a marked 3.00 am
aggravation. Adding to that weeping with the pains. I gave Kali-carb. This
remedy helped in that the patient was sleeping better and the severity of
pains were slightly less. . But it was not the kind of amelioration we
usually see with Homoeopathy. The last remedy chosen was Kali bi. Before the
arthritis the patient had diarrhea. Kali Bi has arthritis alternating with
diarrhea. This case was not alternating in the true sense but the other
symptoms were those of kali-bi. The shifting pains, the nightly
aggravations. Kali bi 1m was given. Then Kali bi 10 M and 50 M. at very long
intervals.

Point to ponder: Sometimes when we are stuck in a chronic case it is good to
take the patient back to the beginning of the disease and try to find out
what was there before that. Can an alternating symptom be traced. Can
another symptom be found in the history that when added to what we have
makes a complete picture. By alternating we usually mean two conditions that
alternate with each other but many times even if there is no alteration but
one set of symptoms has completely replaced another set they may be
considered as alternating symptoms -provided they fit into the picture. Thus
for example you might get a case of backache and on inquiry you may find
that the patient used to get headaches before this trouble started and now
he never gets them. The back symptoms may not be specific for any remedy but
the patient may mention that his headaches used to be better by cold
applications. When you add all these together you may get the picture of
aloes.
