Dear All,
An interesting discussion is emerging here about potencies, and muscle
testing.
I feel that after several years of practicing homeopathy, I am still learning
about potency. I ask myself questions like: why don't we use a 50c or a 100c
or any other for that matter? I believe that the body energy resonates at
different times on different days according to so many factors. I also believe
that if Hahnemann was alive, he would have expected us to research these issues
and many others.
Anyway, now that I have put in my 'two pennies worth' of discussion, you will
not hear from me for the next 3 weeks, because I am going to be away in a
country in Africa where it will be difficult to access e.mail, so I am not
backing out of the discussion. I look forward to reading all e.mails when I get back
at the end of October, (if my computer has not jammed with the quantity of
e.mails, that is).
Best regards,
Grace

Hi Grace,
Have a good trip!
Just to note, those odd-number potencies are certainly useable, have been
sometimes used in the past, and are sometimes used (by some folks anyway)
today. I think the main reasons for the "standardization" at e.g. 6, 12,
30, etc., are (a) when the potency needs to go up, those seem to be
effective and convenient intervals (tho there is also a school, I forget the
name/person, which goes up e.g. 6, 8, 10, 12...), and (b) simplicity. But
you definitely *can* use the intermediate potencies too.

That was discussed by Kent who came up with the "series and

needed a repeat, Kent gave 30, and that didn't do it, so he gave a 60
or a 100, and when he gave a 200 the patient said, "Doctor, that is
the same thing you gave me last time!"
So it was the feedback from the patient's response that got him into
looking at the 6, 12, 30, 200, 1M, 10M, 50M, CM series.
Yet... there are holes in even that. Fincke prepared a lot of
remedies in the 9M, 34M, 45M, 55M potencies.
Nash used a 55M on many occasions according to his writings.
Masie Panos said that a 34M Ignatia was the idea potency for grief
from the loss of a loved one.
One of the big problems with the intermediate potencies is sourcing
them. Most pharmacies like to stick with what they make and would
charge more for the intermediate scales.
