Two questions from the group today:

What are "proud gums" and

what astringents were used to suppress foot sweat back in Hahnemann's time?

Thanks in advance,
Michele.

Hi Michelle

The term 'proud flesh' etymologically is from but is used to describe
excessive granulation that occurs in wound healing.

Yasgur has it described thus, which may be more useful homoeopathically:

exuberant granulations; a fungous growth from a granulating surface which shows no tendency toward
scar tissue formation. Warts, figwarts.

Apparently horses are particularly gifted with producing 'proud flesh' --- and there is an
interesting article which describes this which can be found at
http://www.horses-and-horse-information ... fles.shtml

This article gives a great account of the 'exuberant' growth of the tissue which enables fast
healing and protection of a wound --- even though the 'exuberance' can get out of hand, and become
unsightly and make new skin growth difficult.

Best

Robyn

"The fact is we need any and every way of finding the right remedy; the simple simile, the simple
symptomatic similimum and the farthest reach of all - the pathologic similimum, and I maintain that
we are still well within the lines of Homoeopathy that is expansive, progressive, science fostered
and science fostering." (Dr. J. Compton Burnett)

hi there,
can i get some suggestions for books on
homeopathy/classical/constitutional?
and what are the best websites to buy products from? i'm looking for
low price, complete or close to, collection. i am in the process of
diagnoising myself. i don't want books like-homeopathy for dummies- i
want damn near textbooks, textbooks would be awsome :)
i also have a few questions about my symptoms.. why do i get
sick/nauseated if i do not eat with in 5 mins of being hungry, or
drink within 5 mins? why do i get nauseated/sick in temps above 80?
what should i look in to??
also, there is this crying thing... i'm weepy, over everything.
pleasurable, painful, i cry the same. 90% of the time the crying is
over things like on-star commercails, or movie ads for that 9/11 movie-
a favorite song (eagles to slayer)will set me off, even when its not
sad!! tv, radio, visual stimuli all attack me. what can i do to avoid
public hummiliation (i have no control of it)?
any suggestions or comments are welcome. thanks so much,
danielle

Dear Danielle
it is not a good idea to self diagnose as you cannot "see behind your head without a mirror" a good classic homeopath will help you to heal as s/he can see you without preconsieved ideas, ...and without the metaphorical mirror.
www.minimum.com
www.wholehealthnow.com
are good websites in US to purchase homeopathic books. Reading is great, but self diagnosis is best left to a trained homeopath
I hope this helps.
Kind regards
Lucy

Hello Danielle -

of course I agree with what Lucy said about seeing a good professional
homeopath.

Unfortunately, I also know that sometimes - indeed, much more often
than one would think - that is simply not an option. It's not even
about the money: it's the fact that in many parts of the world
(including - very much so! - the most "civilised" ones) there simply
ARE no real homeopaths to choose from (unless one is willing to be a
guinea pig - and pay for the privilege, on top of everything).

I am assuming you know already that studying homeopathy is a very
lengthy - neverending, in fact - process. (And some people just have
what it takes, while others don't.)

I would suggest reading absolutely everything that the "old masters"
have written (they are to be found online, free of charge). As to
repertories, everyone seems to have their personal favourite. (Kent
and Murphy seem to be the most popular ones.)

Personally, I dislike the use of software. But it CAN be useful, of
course. Bearing in mind that you are (understandably so) looking for a
relatively inexpensive tool, I would suggest Mercurius. I have used
it, and despite some minor problems (terminology) found it to be very
good value for money. (Until October 2005 it was available free of
charge; now it costs around 50 Euros, I think.)
Good luck!

A.

I am no less confused about this move than I was when it was first proposed.

I see on the rife page that old messages are only available with a PG4 program. What the heck is that?

And it costs $9 to do the download of the archive??????

And are we to understand the group member list is gone? This is a nightmare!

Please explain what it means to upload the archives after something is sent from ?????
Please answer questions in real English--not compterese talk.
