Hi Dr. Draven,
Could you say a bit about Xanthoxylum? (Also, I don't know how to read
"doses of gtt20 q6 hours for 10 days?) How you chose it, and what role it
plays? Sounds like a wonderful result!
Thanks,
Shannon

Hello, thanks for the inquiry. Xanthoxylum, also know as prickly ash
a small tree found from Canada (on the eastern side) to Georgia.
There are several varieties. The bark as MT is used as a stimulant
especially of the lower extremities. It renews circulatory process to
the entire lower body. I use Ginko MT for the upper and Xanth MT for
the lower. It has the feel of a shot of electricity thru the body and
is very warming and pain relieving. When applied full strength to the
gums it is very diffusive and helps relieve mouth and gum pain from
surgeries to extractions and among native americans is known as
toothache bark. I have used extensive quantities throughout my 23
years of practice and it is an invaluable MT remedy. It increases the
enzyme production for digestion and stimulates peristalsis (as with
Gentiana Lutea). I have never had a problem with this remedy. The
seed pod is also used, and the eclectics reported that is was more
effective than the bark, but I disagree, and haven't found a great
use for the seed tincture.
gtt equals drop, q equals every, h equals hour, so gtt 20 q6h is 20
drops every six hours for 10 days. This remedy is best mixed with 2-4
ounces of water or your tongue will be numb for hours.
MRD
I remember that one kidney transplant could not walk without shoes
because of the severe sensitivity of his feet, common with certain
diseases including diabetes and hypertention all which the patient
had suffered. After one dose he reported the relief of his foot
sensitivity and a two week Xanth MT afforded relief for many months.
And yes he could walk barefoot and didn't require his usual cane. It
is so worth a try for so many.
