HISTORY
Circumcision of male children is an obligation which goes back to the time
of Prophet Abraham (May the Peace of God be with him Always).
This obligation is also repeated in Islamic teachings.
(I have heard it said that the first guys who had gone to Greece to convert
them to Christianity came back and reported that the Greeks were objecting
to two things else they would convert quickly. One was that they like Pork
and the other they did not want to be circumcised. Not sure who it was (Paul
or Peter) gave authorisation to allow the Greeks not to circumcise and they
could eat pig's mean (which again is forbidden strongly under the
instructions in Torah)
If you study Islamic teachings fairly and without bias, you will find that
eventually there is great wisdom behind it although at certain times we may
not have sufficient knowledge for understanding these reasons.
There is great evidence that removing the foreskin at age 1-2 days with a
sharp instrument is almost painless and the skin heals extremely quickly.
[The cell regeneration rate is very fast in such a young child - see how
their scratches heal completely over night].
Some of advantages are as follows:
1- The person is not going to have any problems with their foreskin at older
age, whether it be too tight or whether become infected.
2- Without it, it is possible to easily keep the penis clean.
3- Without it the head of the penis is less sensitive and therefore
ejaculation occurs later.
4- It has been shown that it is rare for monogamous women who have only had
sex with a circumcised man to suffer from cancer of the cervix.
5- Some studies have shown that circumcised men are less prone to catching
STD, including HIV.
In fact on this point an experiment was shown on British TV (I forget the
prog) where the foreskin of an adult male (mid 30's) was removed (he was
having major problems with it) and immediately taken to a research lab.
There they poured a solution containing HIV over it and then stained it and
sectioned it for microscopic study.
What was clear was that the HIV had entered the body from the underside of
the foreskin. The top side was perfectly immune!
On this point I had seen a report in the Guardian stating that the results
of study from Kenya had shown that circumcised men who had had intercourse
with HIV+ women had not become HIV+ themselves.
My last point is what to do about this op Homoeopathically.
Have it carried out by someone who is a specialist in this task so that they
do not cause any damage.
Give the baby some Arnica before and immediately after the operation, which
is usually done under a local anaesthetic for older children.
[A few months ago the son of one of my friends was being circumcised at
about age 13 and with Arnica being used as above he healed very quickly and
was not complaining of much discomfort.]
Especially in Turkey boys are circumcised at age 12-13.
However, if done at day 2 or 3 it is said to be the best time.
Good luck

Dear list members!
As my husband is an African, in case of having a baby-boy I would be faced =
with the question of circumcision.
I am rather against it, because the simple thought of cutting a defenceless=
baby in such a sensitive (physically and psychically) area gives me
uncomfo=
rtable feelings.
I know from veterinarian hom. that removal of parts of the body like in cas=
tration can cause problems. Is this so (in lesser degree) with removal of
th=
e prepuce, too?
As I didn´t find any information from the hom. point of view on it in any o=
f my books, I want to ask you for hints from literature or personal
experie=
nces.
Thanks
Irene

It was the Zorastrians who lifted the circumcision requirement. It was not
reinstated by any other religious book. It is recommended by Muslims, but it
is not in the Koran as a requirement.
Medically, there are two sides. I believe most SIDS babies are circumsized
males. There is a movement among circumcized males to regrow foreskins.
The comments made by Soroush are important considerations.
You should really research current medical facts and make up your mind.
With modern cleanliness and clean water supply, circumcision is less of a
health issue. There is something to be said for a boy "looking like his
father" for emotional reasons. As there is no longer a binding religious
requirement for most people, the decision is whatever is best for your family.
