Post by vtyekkirala »

Hi,
Two approaches that may be considereed are ;- to give the baby the
remedy best indicated at her birth from amongst those mentioned in the
repertory
for the following rubrics.

The other is to enquire the state of the mother during her pregnancy with
this child and then give that remedy to this child now.

Some notable remedies with their indications are as follows.
ry1 - Lachesis mutus] Congenital Cyanosis : I have used it a few times for
the "blue baby" when the color became worse after sleep.
[ry1 - Lachesis mutus] This modality was so marked in one case that the
mother would wake the child.
[ry1 - Lachesis mutus] The baby cried a good deal when dandled.

[mp4 - Laurocerasus] Blue babies, asphyxia neonatorum. Well chosen remedies
do not act. Cyanosis. Coldness not better by warmth. Weak sphincters. Long
lasting faints. Chorea, emotional with constant jerks, cannot keep still.
The speech indistinct after every excitement, gasping for breath.
[mp4 - Laurocerasus] Laur. has a lack of reaction, especially in chest and
heart disorders. Drink rolls audibly through esophagus and intestines.
General coldness, not ameliorated by warmth. Violent pain in stomach with
loss of speech. Spasm of facial muscles and esophagus.
In Phatak's Materia Medica we find
* Generalities: 'The small quantity of Hydrocyanic Acid which this medicine
contains, produces symptoms accompanied by sudden debility; and lack of
reaction especially in chest and heart affections. It affects the mind and
brain, causing bluntness of special senses. Cyanosis. Effects of fright.
Blue babies, asphyxia neonatorum. Well chosen remedies do not act.

"Shortly after her child was born. It was a blue baby; its circulation very
poor. But it cried some, and, presuming that it would soon redden I went my
way home about midnight, intending to call next evening.
The baby grunted a great deal; did not cry, just grunted.
Next day the family telephoned that the baby was still blue and constantly
grunting As directed, it was kept lying on its right side.
Before going to see it at 2 ' P.M. looked through my repertory relative to
blue babies.
It said: "Circulation bad. Child groans constantly: Laurocerasus."
A baby's best groan is but a grunt. I had never prescribed Laurocerasus.
From my case was taken a vial of Laurocerasus 2c, corked twentysix years
ago, and never uncorked since then.
On my arrival the baby, some 15 hours' old, was still blue and groaning
(grunting).
It had not nursed, and could not.
I gave it a dose of this old 2c potency of LAUROC., and ordered another
dose to be given one hour later.
Went back to see the baby before dark, and received the report:
"In half-hour after first dose baby stopped grunting and began to turn
pink. Before time for second dose it was of normal red color."
And so it remained." - from Homoeopathician.

Hope this helps,
V.T.Yekkirala.
