Vitiligo Question

Post by Usha Passi »

I have a patient that is suffering vitiligo. I have treated her with
her constitutional remedies which clear her mental symptoms but there is
no change in the skin condition. I myself know that it is difficult to
treat this case but I would like to help this person and was wondering
if anyone has any ideas?
Thanks, Usha

Usha
I have experience of treating many cases of vitiligo, about half of them respond well, but it's a time taking job and I tell this to my patients on the very first day. The most important remedy which should be used for a longer period of time is Arsenicum Sulf. Flavum 3X or 4X, supplementing this with Nat. Mur, Hydrocotyle, Thuja, Acid Nit, Anacardium and/ or any other constitutional remedy. Currently I am dealing with two such cases responding very well.

Re: Vitiligo Question

Usha,

When I studied with Dr. Vijayakar's school in India, vitiligo was one of the
more common problems we saw in various stages of the curative process. So it
is curable. These patients were all treated constitutionally. According to
Dr. V, vitiligo is a syph. condition of the melanocytes which are cells
derived from the mesoderm. Therefore, it is not a "skin" condition but in
fact a much deeper condition. The correct constitutional remedy should make
a difference. If no change is occurring after a period of time on the
remedies given, I would reevaluate. A change in mentals does not by itself
indicate the correct constitutional remedy. A word of warning, however. If
the spots disappear and leave a darker than normal skin color behind, they
are suppressed. Skin should return completely to normal color.

be well

Thanks for sharing this, Russell.
I'm curious, do you recall whether the remedies that worked on this were
likely to be in the Vitiligo rubric?

E.g. Complete has: SKIN; DISCOLORATION; white; spots, vitiligo (K1307,
G1078): alum., am-c., ant-t., Ars., ars-s-f., aur., berb., calc., calc-f.,
calc-sil., carb-ac., carb-an., cob-n., coca, cortico., graph., kali-i.,
kres., lyc., med., merc., mica, nat-c., nat-m., nit-ac., ozone, phos.,
pip-m., pitu-a., pitu-p., prot., pyrar., sel., sep., Sil., sulo-ac., sulph.,
sumb., syph., thuj., zinc., zinc-p.

I assume that if a remedy in that rubric fits the case well, we're happy,
and hopeful; and on the other hand if the case seems clearly and strongly
suited to a remedy that is *not* in the rubric, we're happy enough to give
it a shot. But I'm curious if anyone has a sense of what the "odds" are
likely to be????

Thanks,
Shannon

Thanks for the information. I believe a re-evaluation of the patient is
best and I will go from there.

Thanks again, Usha

Hi,
Right remedy should help.
You need to retake the whole case and analyse it afresh.
There are no short-cuts.
With regards,
Waqar Taji

Hello Usha
It is a point that cure will take time . And as Dr Waqar Taji told
analyze the case again note the changes. If the same medicine comes
change the potency , u can also use LM potency if the remedy would not
do any harm by frequent repetition .
