have been receiving virus encoded messages again. this weekend received on with the name shannonelson.

please be aware and dont open, altho i find they self open when trying to delete them

Info from my ISP as to the viruses Julian mentions (and which my ISP luckily seems
to filter but yours
may not):

VIRUS 1: (MAC OR MICROSOFT COMPUTERS, APPARENTLY):

There are several new viruses going
about and there are several important things you
should know about them.

The KLEZ virus has several
vaiants. Some of the variants "spoof" the sender's
email address. The virus will
take two email addresses it finds on the infected
computer and choose one for the
recipient address and one for the sender's
address. Read up on this virus,
and it's variants, at Symantec's site

VIRUS 2 (APPARENTLY MICROSOFT COMPUTERS ONLY):

This worm arrives in an email message,
which is disguised as a Microsoft Internet
Security Update-- The Attachment will

The fake message, which is not from
Microsoft, has the following characteristics:

From: Microsoft Corporation Security
Center
Subject: Internet Security Update
Message:
Microsoft Customer,
This is the latest version of security
update, the update which eliminates all known
security vulnerabilities affecting
Internet Explorer and MS Outlook/Express as well as six
new vulnerabilities.

removal tool at symantec, it doesnt mention macintosh at all); however mac users
definitely
immune to virus #2 mentioned here. PC users might consider downloading both tools

Sharon,

This is a known hoax and deleting the file will result in harm to the
Windows OS for SOME people (programmers). The actual virus is the spreading
of this email.

For the future, please don't put me in the TO: or CC: field of any email
you send out that is addressed to others as well. Just put me in the BCC:
field, as these emails tend to be 'forwarded' and all your contact list gets
publicized and spammers grab the addresses and start sending unsolicited
emails. That is the true nature of these hoaxes.

One clue: whenever you read an email warning that tells you to contact
everyone in your email address book, there is a 99.99% chance it is a hoax.

sending out emails or deleting files from your computer:
