Dear Mohammad
I think the best remedy in this case may be Merc. Keep merc in mind in the case. But I think there is no remedy which can improve her eye sight. Because in this case myopia is not a dynamic dysfunction. It is an anatomic largness of her eyeball, so there is no remedy to improve her myopia (especially by -3 number within 4 weeks).

Hi Farbod - Mercury is also my impression for this case. I am myopic but not
to the extent of the person described below. Several years ago, I had
occasion to use Mercury and my experience was that every morning when I woke
up for several weeks after, my eyesight was exceptionally clear and my
myopia had decreased. The effect lasted for an hour or so every morning but
once having stopped the Merc, the effect ceased. I believe that it is
difficult to wean oneself from glasses as every time one puts them on to go
about the day, one forces the eyes back to a position of being supported by
the "crutch" of the glasses and they (the eyes) go back to the state they
had been in before wearing the glasses. I think we are, in effect,
suppressing myopia in these cases and without ceasing the use of glasses
altogether, it will be very difficult to correct vision with homeopathy or
any other therapy. Maybe with eye exercises, staying away from the glasses
as much as possible and the use of specific remedies such as Jaborandi,
Pilocarpine, Physostigma, etc., some improvement can be made. These should
be individualized to the case as much as possible. Acupuncture, acupressure
on the eye reflexes on the eyebrows, reflexology and learning to relax the
eyes may also be helpful. Laser surgery would be a last resort and should be
seen as suppressive therapy but, it does work. No one knows what the effects
of it on the person will be 20 years from now.

Hi Allen,

One thing has always puzzled me about the "staying away from glasses"
theory: Our eyes manage to get *worse* despite glasses, so it would seem to
me they can also get *better* despite glasses. Actually, a friend recently
had that experience as a "side effect" of noni juice, which I know almost
nothing about... But she was telling me in delight how she thought her eyes
had gotten worse, but on impulse tried her prior pair, and they are now
perfect! Now if noni juice can do that, I'd assume that a remedy could too
(at least for some people)!

Hi Shannon - I have no idea what noni juice is but, if it corrects myopia,
we should all be using it. In my case, if I used glasses corrected to 20/20
or better, within 6 months or so, I would have to change to a higher
prescription. Keeping the prescription at 20/25 or just a bit under perfect,
I have maintained the present prescription for 7 or 8 years. If anyone ever
figures it all out, please let me know. Actually, I took a sniff of
Jaborandi in liquid Q potency several weeks and noticed within 2 or 3
minutes that my ability to read small print increased greatly. It remains
improved to this moment. I plan to use it again at some point in the future.

Hi Allen,

I'm very interested to hear about the Jaborandi! (Q means LM? Was it LM1,
or ?) My eyes are *really* lousy, and I've been intrigued by the rxs that
are supposed to improve eyesight, but well, haven't tried...

Re the noni juice, my guess (and it's definitely a guess!) is that *for her*
it had this effect because some *part* of *her* eye weakness is nutritional;
the eyes do reflect and respond to a *lot* of different factors and
conditions in the body. I assume it doesn't have this effect for everyone.

In myself, I've noticed that when my liver gets particularly out-of-whack,
my vision gets even worse, and I can get it back on track by taking herbs
for my liver. Maybe noni juice would work for me too, dunno.

My experience with correcting to 20/20, tho, is the same as yours; I learned
a long time ago to ask the optometrist to back my prescription down a notch
from 20/20. Funny...

I have heard people talk about age-related farsightedness being improved by
remedies; I suppose that's likely a more "functional" sort of issue,
compared to severe and congenital nearsightedness...

And, well, if anyone gets wonderful info or results on eyesight with
remedies, please do pass them on!

:-)

HI,

FYI,

Noni juice is the juice of a fruit. If i recall, it grows in polynesia, but i could be wrong. there was a woman selling this juice in my area who had given me some literature a few years ago. they (the company) give rave reports of the benefits of this juice. i dont know what the nutrition content is, but it is supposed to be quite rich and healing.

as regards the issue eye glasses: i did some work with a visual therapist several years ago. he always tries to minimize the use of glasses and does quite a bit of physical and emotional therapy to improve the eyes. i also recall him talking about the abuse of our vision with all the close up work we do today; ie tv and computers, paper work, etc. he uses light and color therapy as well as a range of physical exercises to strengthen the eyes. fascinating information that i got from him.

i think both these items can be supportive to homeopathy

another point on vision: only 5% of people are born with dysfunctional eyes (vision problems). most visual problems arise out of life conditions. as previously mentioned, excessive close-up work which our culture promotes is one of the abuses we heap on our eyes. also, emotional trauma will affect vision. there is a book called Light which talks about the use of light therapy on visual problems. it cites a number of cases which have emotional causes. homeopathy would certainly be functional with these kinds of etiologies.

just a note of perspective: when i was young, it was very unusual for a child to need glasses. as a matter of fact lots of ridicule would be heaped on a person needing to wear them. i noticed a few years ago, while working at an elementary school, the large number of children who wear glasses today. well, they sit in front of a tv from infancy and get computers at pre-school age and sit at home playing board games from early on in life. our eyes are designed primarily for distance use and constant adaptation between near and far.

Dear Allen

Your experience on merc and myopia was so interesting. I agree with you about suggest laser surgery a suppressive treatment. No need to wait 20 years to find it s side effects. Now there are some documents that show, laser surgery in cases of severe myopia, increase risk of retinal detachment.

in reading these posts about myopia and laser surgery, i am reminded of a young woman who was
treated with laser. she was working with a spiritual healer who was succeeding in treating her and told absolutely not to deal with her mother at that time. she ignored him, had a big set back with her visual problem and then went to an eye doctor who did laser. the damage from the laser treatment virtually blinded her. laser surgery is no where as controlled as the medical people portend.
