Hahnemann's Organon of Medicine - Aphorism 54
Hahnemann's Organon of Medicine
*******************************
Aphorism 54:
'The allopathic method of treatment utilized many
things against disease, but usually only improper ones
(alloea) and ruled for ages in different forms called
systems. Every one of these, following each other from
time to time and differing greatly each from the
other, honored itself with the name of Rational
Medicine 1.
Every builder of such a system cherished the haughty
estimation of himself that he was able to penetrate
into the inner nature of life of the healthy as well
as of the sick and clearly to recognize it and
accordingly gave the prescription which noxious matter
2 should be banished from the sick man, and how to
banish it in order to restore him to health, all this
according to empty assumptions and arbitrary
suppositions without honestly questioning nature and
listening without prejudice to the voice of
experience. Diseases were held to be conditions that
reappeared pretty much in the same manner. Most
systems gave, therefore, names to their imagined
disease pictures and classified them, every system
differently. To medicines were ascribed actions which
were supposed to cure these abnormal conditions.
(Hence the numerous text books on Materia Medica.3)
Footnote:
1 As if the establishment of a science, based only on
observation of nature and pure experiment and
experience idle speculation and scholastic vaporings
could have a place.
2 Up to the most recent times what is curable in
sickness was supposed to be material that had to be
removed since no one could conceive of a dynamic
effect (§ 11 note) of morbific agencies, such as
medicines exercise upon the life of the animal
organism.
3 To fill the measure of self infatuation to
overflowing here were mixed (very learnedly)
constantly more, indeed, many different medicines in
so-called prescriptions to be administered in frequent
and large doses and thereby the precious,
easily-destroyed human life was endangered in the
hands of these perverted ones. Especially so with
seton, venesection, emetics, purgatives, plasters,
fontanelles and cauterization.'

Re: Hahnemann's Organon of Medicine - Aphorism 54
My Dear Dr Shardar,
I am not a homoeopath myself, but am a convinved briefholder for the system
as a curative force. However, to my absolute belief, everyone but every one
even remotely connected with the science of homoeopathy has got a print copy
and has read the text of Hahnemann's Organon of Medicine. So to what purpose
are you spending your time and using internet space and wasting MINUTUS
members' time by reproducing the text of this book verbatim, without even a
word of yourown wisdom? Don't you have anything more useful to do with your
blasted time? Well we have.
So I suggest, Sir, stop it now.
Or if you must carry on this good work, please do so in Persian (for the
benefit of Iranian people, you compatriots, obviousloy) where there is need
for curing so many sick minds and bodies after the recent disasters. To my
mind, sir, then you will be doing something meaningful.
Good luck

I am new to this list and probably should NOT get involved but I am having a bad day and just desire to mix it up a bit. I want to apologize to Dr. Shahrdar for what I feel is a very RUDE message. In the short time that I have been involved with this list I have found the Dr. to be kind, generous and extremely desirous of spreading the homeopathic word. Name-calling accomplishes nothing except to make the name-caller look an ass. I am glad to have the Organon sections published. I have not read them. I am new to homeopathy, also. Please Shreeram, keep your snide and nasty remarks to yourself. When you see the subject line just hit "delete" and don't presume to make decisions for me!
Respectfully,
Beverle Sweitzer

Dear Sir,
I am so sorry that I am wasting your valuable time
with Minutus!!
Any one who feels that my blasted (!) time is wasting
his/her valuable time can send me a letter with the
subject of 'unsubscribe' to be removed from the list.
The reason for sending the aphorisms of Organon was
discussed before sending the first aphorism.
Sincerely,
Ardavan Shahrdar,
Minutus list owner and moderator

Ardavan,
Just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate Minutus and all your
efforts.
Rereading the Organon Aphorisms on a daily basis is very helpful. Those who
do not want to read them need only select delete.

Dear Mr Shreeram Vidyarthi,
I'm really shocked by your letter to Dr. Shardar,
It's not only rude but also highly offensive.
But worst of all is the fact that the letter demonstrate a feeling of
presumption (towards other cultures) and even racialism.
I totally disagree with your action.

Homeopaths should read the Organon once a year and I for one appreciate it
coming to me daily in pieces. Since Shreeram Vidyarthi
states he is not a homeopath I wonder what on Earth he is doing on the list
let alone replying to it in such a derogatory manner.

Re: Hahnemann's Organon of Medicine - Aphorism 54
thank you Jan,
i had the same sense of dismay and concerns about racism from Shreeram's letter.
it never ceases to amaze me at the arrogance of some people to feel they can
make such harsh statements to others. especially in this case where the person
is not a homeopath and obviously has little understanding or appreciation for the learning
styles of people in the field.
every class i have ever taken, every list that i am on, etc, always seems to have at least one
person who feels they can run some kind of power trip through hostile and judgemental
statements. it always creates such bad feeling and for what. and it is those very people
who never get the message.

The writer may have not realized to whom he was writing (list owner, and
teacher of homeopathy), may have made other assumptions, and be now
regretting his hasty (?) post...
Sometimes the kindest response to such a "faux pas" is to ignore it...
