Greetings

Unfortunately, last night on national television in Australia, a segment
was shown re the "dangers of a fake vaccine". As it turned out, it was made
by Brauers here in australia, and from the meningococcal vaccine I think
(Robert Medhurst, are you there?). They even had a shot of someone from
Quackwatch, shown opening a package of these bottles of remedy. It has been
pulled from the shelves.

I am not sure how it was intended to be used at this point!

In the past few days there has been a lot of news re the now availiable in
Australia, Meningococcal vaccine. As usual, the media plays a big role in
causing the public to panic, however, they must get their info from
medical sources somewhere along the line. This has led to this latest
attack on Homoeopathy.

Robert Medhurst from Brauers was allowed to say a few words only, however,
in the rest of the segment there was nothing but a slant toward homoeopathy
being fake.

I hope that any of the Homoeopaths in Australia who may read these lists,
and who are part of an association, should have publicity available to
counteract negative publicity, such as that described above.

I feel the damage that this will do to homoeopathy in Australia is
immeasureable, as there has never been to my knowledge a public outcry
against it before.

Are there any comments?

Regards

Robyn

Lots of fear, and understandable....... we have the same situation in
New Zealand, where a specific strain of meningococcus is killing people
in small localised epidemics.
As there were 2 cases in my city, I have just ordered Meningococcinum
and will give it in increasing potencies to the whole family, 30, 200
and 1M and see what happens.

The fear factor, and the legal implications are such that you must be
very careful when asked advice.
I always tell my patients that THEY have the options and that THEY will
make the eventual choice, and whatever their choice I will be there to
help them if need be. I make it very clear that, although my position is
known, I only give the information I have available and that patients or
families are responsible for their choices. IF I am asked "what would
you do", I answer "here is what I have been doing so far..... but this
is my personal choice as an individual, not a recommendation as a
practitioner".

The choices I explain are:

1. have the regular vaccination
2. have homeopathic immunisation
(like Isaac Golden)
needs/request
3. not to do anything: it is an option
4. have the regular vaccination under "homeopathic protection" as I
described earlier

I do not indulge in philosophical discussions with the patients, whether
it is homeopathically correct or not. I give them choices,
possibilities, options but essentially the reassurance that whatever
they choose, they will not be criticised or neglected if this disagrees
with my way of seeing things, and if they have problems, I will be
available to try to correct the damage.

Seems to me that this way, I have covered most of the bases.........

Thankyou for your input Dr. J

you said ..........

I am not sure whether this product will still be available to practitioners
here in Australia. If it isn't, then those interested may have to find
another source.

After the news report, I seriously doubt whether there will be too many
requests for this "fake vaccine" here in Aust.

Last year my son's girlfriend contracted meningococcal men. and I gave him
a dose of Gelsemium as a prophylactic, as fear definitely takes hold when
it is close to home. He had shared drinks and maybe other things with her
just a day before diagnosis. I was offered the antibiotic treatment by the
Government, but my son and I decided not to use it - instead the Gelsem. He
was fine, and so were the other 1200 children at the school, and all the
brothers and sisters and family members of the infected girl!

Fear is an amazing thing. It motivates even the most alternative-minded to
consider mainstream treatments. The media has a lot to say for itself in
these matters IMO.

Lyme Nosode discussion/negative publicity

I do think it's interesting that they begin the attack
on homoeopathy at a time when the stats are showing a
huge proportion of Australians are choosing to see
alternative practitioners of some sort. I guess they
hope for the "tarred with the same brush" approach
along with the fear generating tactics... it is
demoralising to see it in action.
