hi,
three of my cat have ear flap hematomas. i've been thru the files and archives on catwell and irene suggested ledum 30c to help with reabsorbsion of the blood. i'm just not sure i can give it to these cats. one is diabetic one is hyperthyroid and one has renal insufficiency. does anyone know if there would be any problem giving them the ledum.

Were these hematomas caused by injuries?
From the conditions you name, I’m guessing the cats are (how much?) in a fragile state? Or possibly not…
On the one hand, if it’s the result of injury, usually (and I’m hoping someone else will chime in) is that it should be fine to use it as a first-aid treatment. That would be only a short-term treatment, and you should be able to easily see whether its use is causing any disruption in the cats’ behavior or etc.
But for a patient who is fragile, you’d want to be extra-careful in dosing; prefer water doses, and don’t be in a hurry to redose.
An animal (or person) can be very ill but not yet fragile or overreactive. Can you say more about these cats’ condition, how ill or how old they are?
I’m not well versed with cats, so trying to extrapolate from how I would treat an injury (assuming it is that) in a chronically ill person. And certainly that can be done!
