Re: going to Mexico

In addition to case taking after the fact, is there anything, remedy wise or other, anyone would recommend carrying with them in case of illness from unfamiliar exposures? It is understood that being careful and practical come first.
For example: exposure to water in areas that are known for toxic/sewage waste in the water? And, of course, the usual worries about drinking water, etc. One of my clients is asking.
Thanks,

Sherill

I always suggest building up the immune system before traveling--increase Vit D3 (5000 IU/day), vit C (1-2 gr/day), B vitamins, etc.

Also, various herbs such as echinacea and golden seal to be taken along for the ride.

Then of course a homeopathic remedy travel kit that you can help customize for the region.

Hi Sherill,

There is no mention of what State in Mexico or if it's a high end hotel trip, an Ayahuasca trip or a fishing trip on the beach. Mexico is a HIGH tourism country!

In any case: DO NOT DRINK THE WATER!!!
or order a drink with ice cubes. Eat at "high end" establishments.

If you're traveling around, rest rooms may or may not have "paper" and "paper' is not flushed, it is put in a trash can. (You wind it round and round like a bee hive and put it in the trash.) (BYOP)

Some times they're unisex - a largish room with a trough urinal running along a wall and a line of toilets (not enclosed) on the other wall. (Don't sit.) Concerned about privacy.............wear a full skirt. Have plenty of hand sanitizer, no bidet.

There is a lot of poverty and sometimes children are begging. The people are are friendly and helpful. Easy to find someone who speaks English.

Hello - Hola
Thank you very much - Muchas gracias
Goodbye - Adios

Atb,

Leilanae

Continue to take your chronic remedy. Most of the time people's "acute" remedy is their chronic remedy. Unless there is a significant change of your mental, emotional or physical general symptoms, then the remedy you need is your chronic remedy.

I disagree with this - acute is not usually your chronic. You need a different remedy usualy - see below for 3rd type of acute
And when traveling who knows what you will need - it is so individual
Have a good book and a good kit and don't drink or brush your teeth with the water or eat things that would have been rinsed in possibly contaminated water

The Three Types of Acute Disorders

The Organon teaches that there are three forms of acute crisis (§73). These are the acute indisposition, the acute miasm, and the acute-like acerbation of a chronic miasm. The first type of acute diseases are those that attack individually. They are usually brought on by an exciting causes such as stress and strain, overheating, being chilled, over eating or bad food, strong physical and mental impressions, etc. They are usually acute acerbations of the chronic miasms stimulated into activity by by a strong exciting cause. If such crisis is slight the best treatment is simple rest, appropriate diet and nursing. When an acute disorder is strong it will repress the chronic symptoms and display a new symptom image. Under these circumstances the intercurrent remedy is the remedy of choice. After the crisis has subsided complementary constitutional treatment is needed to remove the underlying cause.

The second type of acute disease attack individuals sporadically They are caused by atmospheric, meteoric and telluric influences, unseasonable weather, and the like. These are true acute indispositions, and if severe, should be treated with acute remedies as they are prone to complications. These diseases form acute layers which repress the constitutional picture until they have run their course or are removed by homoeopathic remedies. Constitutional and anti miasmic treatment helps the individual to become more resistant to these natural causes.

The third type of acute diseases are the acute miasms. They are caused by microorganisms which are self-limiting but tend to form quick crisis and end with either complications, death or convalescence. They are of two types; those that provide immunity after one attack like measles, mumps, chicken pox, and those which reoccur like viral flu and colds, cholera, typhoid, etc. They should be treated with remedies which reflect the picture of the acute miasms only. Follow up treatment with constitutional and anti miasmic remedies helps supply immunity by removing the underlying susceptibility.

I guess it depends on your definiition of "usually" is, which depends on the strength of your vital force.

If you have a weak VF then you might more often be pushed into a different "acute" state for which you will need an acute remedy.

If you have a stronger VF then you will usually stay in that state when the "acute" arises.

Unless there is a significant change of your mental, emotional or physical general symptoms, then the remedy you need is your chronic remedy.
Be sure to have your chronic remedy on hand and an emergency kit if needed.

Hi Sherill,

I just spent a few weeks in Mexico (again) with no problems however I am very cautious of the food and water... That being said, it does depend on where in Mexico one is traveling as to the potential for reactions to the water and to realize that the fresh fruits and vegetables can also be grown with the same water... This is not a remedy-related comment but rather an Awareness Raising comment about fresh raw foods in addition to the water... when one is not sure of food origin, consider boiling water and cooking fresh foods if one is concerned...

with regards to your client, have an awesome trip, Tamar

going to Mexico

I like to take a charcoal-filtering water bottle with me when I travel. Mine used to be sold under the name Safe Water Anywhere, but I imagine other models are available. The micro-mesh part is fine enough to handle cholera, and the activated charcoal takes care of toxicity.
I also take WHP's 50 remedy kit in 30c, which can take care of the basics. Sometimes for clients I've also made up packets of remedies specific to the areas they're traveling and for what they're likely to encounter.
Peace,
Dale
