Dear Colleagues

Are you, or is anyone you know, interested in taking part in an international proving project as a prover?

We are looking for 6 more provers in Cape Town for our current proving and from September / October we will be looking for another 26 volunteers.

About the Project

As you are aware, there are currently many homeopathic medicines in use that do not have provings. The project aims to do systematic, formal, double-blind, placebo-controlled provings on substances that are currently in use in homeopathic medicines, but lack a formal proving. A group of substances has been identified and, with sponsorship from Heel in Germany, provings are being conducted in Arizona and London and in South Africa, under the auspices of Durban University of Technology, we have 2 sites – Durban and Cape Town. The provings have full ethical clearance from the DUT IREC and are a high-level DUT project, with all attendant safeguards such as insurance. The aim is to formally publish the results of the provings and also to submit the provings to the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia of the United States for inclusion in the HPUS, which will safeguard their use currently, and in future, in homeopathic medicines. Previous provings in this project have already achieved this.

The Substance

The substances being investigated may be from any source, but are single substances (not complexes) that will be used in a 30cH or D30 potency only

The Proving

Double-blind, placebo-controlled Hahnemannian Proving, 26 Provers, 1 in 5 of whom will receive placebo. Journalling format. Case History and exam followed by 7 day observation period, then up to 5 days of administration of the substance, followed by a variable time period of observation and journaling until any symptoms subside

Provers

Between the ages of 18 and 60, generally healthy, not on or in need of any medication. No homeopathic medicine taken for 6 weeks prior to commencing proving

Co-Ordinators

Prof Ashley Ross - Proving Director. In Cape Town – Craig Wright and Megan Jones
If you, or anyone you know, are interested in taking part and making a contribution to this project as a prover, please let me know – I would love to hear from you

With best wishes

Craig
