dental work (long but very important)

Post by Marybeth Buchele »

Tanya & all,
Be careful about supplements prior to dental or other surgeries. Vitamin E can slow down blood clotting, Vitamin C can clear anesthesia faster than is desired.
So stop taking both 3 days before surgery.
How I know this information: many years ago I took high doses of C daily, 5,000 mg. I had a filling replaced, requiring anesthesia. The dentist used eight (8!) ampules of the anesthesia during the procedure because it kept wearing off very quickly. I ended up having to "white-knuckle" it, I used my Lamaze breathing techniques to get through it.
NOT FUN. REALLY. NOT. FUN.
I had not had that problem before or since and have had that anesthesia used since with good results. So it was the C that cleared the anesthesia so quickly.
The zirconium implants have broken easily (the original design was faulty) so many dentists won't use them. I have heard they are being redesigned, so make sure your dentist stands behind their work and will replace the implants if they break.
Titanium is thought to be biocompatible, but it interferes with the electrical system in your body. I would bet that fourth implant that brought on tinnitus is on the ear acupuncture meridian, check it out, Dale. If so, the only cure is to remove that implant.
How I know all of the above: three teeth, upper front, died after being bashed long ago on the playground.
Root canals led to a slow decline in my health, having those teeth pulled led to an amazing return to health for me.
When you have teeth removed, make sure the dental ligament is also removed. The dentist won't think that is necessary, but it is.
A colleague, Bette Jo Arnett, has written a book on how to use your conventional dentist to receive holistic dental care, "Wholistic Dentistry". Amazon carries it. And Bette Jo will do phone consults to help you sort out your dental options. She was a dental hygienist in a previous life, she worked for the top holistic dentist in Minneapolis for many years before attending homeopathy school.
The thing I got out of that book, and listening to Bette Jo speak, was that poor dental practices can really mess people up. I realized that the 20 (!) years I experienced very poor health from extremely bad allergies & chemical sensitivities were from those botched root canals, they slowly poisoned my system.
After those teeth were pulled, my health improved very quickly. Before that, not really anything--over those 20 years--helped very much. And I tried EVERYTHING to try to recover my health.
There aren't great options for replacing damaged teeth, only choosing which option is least bad. I've gone with a partial plate. Inconvenient, because food catches underneath it. But it comes out at night, giving my system a rest from the artificial materials in the appliance.
Apologies if this is TMI & OT. But I hope it can help us recognize when the wrong dental work has destroyed health.
Best, best wishes,
Marybeth
